A man jumps across surface flooding on Euston Road.

The ‘Euston Puddle’ makes another appearance on what is expected to be the hottest day of the year.

‘Euston Puddle’ returns for summer -
A visualy impaired man using a white cane navigates across a flooded pedestrian crossing outside Euston station.

Heavy rain causes surface flooding AKA the ‘Euston Puddle’ at pedestrian crossings on Euston Road. Transport for London (TfL) who manage the road and crossings installed new drainage to solve the problem, which instantly failed first time it rained. 02/06/2026. London. UK. If you live in a flat in central London as many people do - public gardens and green spaces with grass, trees, plants and wildlife are a lifesaver. We should be adding more and protecting the remaining green spaces we have - not building on them.

Euston Square Gardens South was a 1920’s land grab — 100 yrs later much the same is happening again. Writing in 1923 to the Times university constituency MP Sir Sydney Russell-Wells stated “once built on, it goes without saying that the land is lost forever”
Clipping from the St. Pancras Gazette, Friday August 3rd 1923.

Can Euston Square [Gardens] be Saved — letter to the Times written by university constituency MP Sir Sydney Russell-Wells.

The letter refers to the lost South side of Euston Square Gardens — now occupied by buildings housing; Friends House, offices, BT telephone exchange, and Prezzo chain restaurant.
