No joy finding a phalarope today at Grafham so spent time practicing photography and sandpiper ageing with this Common Sandpiper: a heavily moulting adult i think, lacking the usual long tail and only one tertial. #UKBirding

Unfortunately not a Ring Ouzel. Call of RZ would stop at around 1 kHz, not extend right down to 0 like this. Suggests that's an artifical sound. Right to be cautious with Merlin detections like this
