Every year, we take stock of public satisfaction with the #NHS through our analysis of the #BritishSocialAttitudes survey. ✅ This year's report found the lowest level of NHS satisfaction recorded since the survey began in 1983, with just 21% satisfied.

Yes but people waiting for elective surgery/investigations/outpatients and having it cancelled are personally affected by this Even if the cancellation is caused by overcrowding and flu and not by industrial action meaning redeployment of consultants It is not wise to dismiss its impact so casually

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture. They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

yes the question is not "are the BBC perfect?" (obviously not, sometimes they are awful) it's "if we let them fall, will we like what comes next to fill the vacuum they leave?" (no. no one on Bluesky will like it unless they are purely on here to hate-read.)

Over on Twitter/X which has become so toxic thanks to Musk If you even try to defend or support BBC or at least point out the attempts from the right to control, undermine and destroy it You release the Kraken No one is allowed to hold two or three things to be true at once Nuance not allowed

Does the news reflect what we die from?
The image presents a comparison of the leading causes of death in the United States for 2023 and the media coverage these causes receive from three news outlets: The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Fox News.

In the footer, it notes the data sources, indicating that the information is based on media mentions from Media Cloud (2025) and death data from the US CDC (2025) and the Global Terrorism Index, with a clarification that values are normalized to sum to 100%.

These stats are frankly bonkers. If anybody is complaining about why they are waiting to see a GP. They need to ask why successive governments have not supported the same growth in GP numbers as it has hospital medic numbers @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social fix it or fail

Here, broken down into a thread, is a copy of my last post on X. 1. This is my farewell post. I am not deleting this account, as I don’t want to lose the archive, and I don’t want my name taken by imposters. But, for as long as Musk owns the platform, I’ll no longer use it.

Thread for those new to BlueSky. First of all, welcome. It feels like a safer space, doesn’t it? But also perhaps a bit disorienting initially? Here’s some tips for getting your bearings.

This graph is astonishing. The people that bang on about “natural birth” and “women have been doing this forever without help” need to be forced to stare at this until their eyes water.
Graph of maternal mortality rate against year for the UK. Rate bounces until and down around 500 deaths per 100,000 births until about 1940, when it falls sharply. It’s been very low (~1–3 per 100,000) ever since.
