A can of Strike Cola, the fizzy pop choice for those that preferred the flavour of cola ice lollies to that of Coca-cola or Pepsi.A pack of original Wotsits Wafflers, cheesy flavour. The sheer surface area of these corn snacks meant that they offered an unparalleled flavour hit with every piece. When Chart Music's Neil Kulkarni revealed that these were his holy grail crisp also, I physically punched the air in an involuntary display of parasocial camaraderie. Miss ya, crispdred spirit.A small pile of sherbet pips. The classic ones: pink, yellow and off-white. Small fizzy boiled sweets, a quarter of these lasted for ages - especially if you were one of those "one at a time" monsters - and were not quite as much of a tooth threat as some other boiled fizzy sweets. I'm looking at you, Kola Kubes.

Following on from my last post about Paradise nightclub, Pontardawe, I am reminded of the time that I walked drunkenly home - in party shoes, mind, not trainers - because I didn't want to incur the wrath of my dad by asking for a lift. 13.7 miles. Over 5 hours. Heels fucked for weeks.
A snippet of Google Maps, showing that my 1988 post-nightclub walk from Pontardawe to home was 13.7 miles and took over 5 hours. Bloody hell, the naivety and energy of drunken youth, eh? My heels took weeks to recover.

Is it just me, or are these sandwiches about to burst into song? The Muppet Show has a lot to answer for. #Muppets #Sandwiches #SandwichesThatTurnOutToBeMuppets
A mouth-watering display of delicious Italian-style deli sandwiches, so full of meats and salads that they look like they have mouths with which to serenade you imminently.

Sorry, Canada, but your second strip is awful. I felt as if I was watching the guys I'd hired to decorate my house having a lunchtime kickabout.
A member of Canada's World Cup football team displays their second strip, which is black with a white paint-splat effect that suggests maple leaves. Imagine if you left your black t-shirt out to dry on an island inhabited by puffins. It literally looks like shite.

Oh wow. Sad radio, lads 😢 Really going to miss Crunch, Crumble, Vin, and all the scoops for Daddy over the years. It's been much more entertaining than they thought it was. ... Lover. @radiox.co.uk www.chortle.co.uk/news/2026/05...
Ed Gamble and Matthew Crosby in a Radio X studio, clearly a PR photo from the start of their Radio X tenure, as they both look young and hopeful and happy.

"Think back to your childhood. Do you remember when the anxiety started?”
A still from the 1978 children's TV puppet show "Oscar", about a rabbit with with a pterodactyl nemesis. In this still, the three interchangeable sets of sentient false teeth belonging to Oscar's nemesis are hanging on a washing line in front of an endless black void, talking to each other. The idea of sentient false teeth - esepcially ones comprised of sharp fangs - kickstarted an anxiety that has never left me.

A 4 panel comic strip by Poorlydrawnlines. Panel 1: a woman with a dog says "I guess I'm a dog person". Panel 2: The dog reveals himself to be a sneaky cat, who takes off his dog disguise and says "guess again...". Panel 3: woman says "You piece of shit...". Panel 4: The panel shows the cat giving both pawfingers, clearly antangonising the "dog person".

Everyone goes on about Leonardo da Vinci's genius... but man, he was shit at stoats. Either that, or for medieval mustelids every day was leg day.
Leonardo da Vinci's painting "Lady With An Ermine", whereby our talented painter demonstrates that you could do a better job of painting a white ferret than he did. That feisty carpet noodle is more musclebound than Lou Ferrigno.

A Freudian typo from the Guardian? 😂
From the Guardian's live feed of the World Cup draw: "This is what we want to see from a leader, and you definitely deserve the first Fifa Peace Prize. You can always OCUNT on my support to help you make peace around the world. Thank you Mr President".

I am very grateful for the Emotional Support Friendo that accompanied me on my hospital visit today [courtesy of the excellent - and excellently named - @vimtotime.bsky.social ] A suprising bonus is that my ESFs also smell AMAZING. I'm sure that doesn't sound in any way weird.
A little Emotional Support Friendo, that I acquired from @vimtotime.bsky.social, is peeking out from the manbag that I took with me to some hospital scans today. I felt completely supported by my new friendo.

An illustration of the four Monster Munch monsters, showing from left to right: Pink Monster (with long tongue), Yellow Monster (with one cyclops eye festooned with lashes), Blue Monster (with four arms and wings for ears) and Orange Monster (fat, and with bright red hair).

Ah, the return of an old friend, just in time for autumn. Soon I shall once more be in that medieval monastery in the middle of the coniferous forest; the stone walls damp with breath and moss, their surfaces skittering in the light of the burning tallow. I can't wait. 🖤
A newly received, unopened box of Comme des Garcons' "Incense Series 3: Zagorsk" perfume, staged on a cube of wood to make it look a bit less plain (otherwise it would just be a black box on a black backdrop)

Post yourself from a different era? Okay then, let's take a trip back to when I hadn't squandered my potential. It's the early Nineties!
A moody and grainy monochrome photograph of me in profile, taken as part of a photoshoot of the band I was in. Taken in wistful middle-distance-gaze profile, with chin-length hair and a Godflesh long-sleeved shirt, which was pretty much ubiqitous for me at the time. Speaking of which, I think this may have been 1992.
