I appreciate your comments. My situation was a bit different, so I didn't feel like a sex toy (my abuser didn't want sexual gratification. He was heavy into drugs and thought it would help me feel confident/desired), but I support using the term from a victim veiwpoint.

I knew the outcomes. I knew one of the outcomes was him being jumped in jail, so to protect him, I kept silent. He admitted it and I still wouldn't tell until I was assured he wouldn't get hurt. Kids understand more than you think.

I say this all the time. My abuser admitted everything and I still wouldn't say shit until I was assured he would not be hurt. Despite the abuse, I loved my abuser. But of course, my voice is always talked over by people who would rather root for death than listen to victims' reality.

She purposely got them to tie. That is the amazing part. She knew before the end this was the only way to win and intentionally put them in that position. Even knowing the first part is incredible under high pressure, being able to plot in those conditions seems superhuman.

Dude, I'm usually with you, but they did have a real weapon against MLK. That's how he was was murdered. They were both 'easy to beat' because they were humans without a powerful system backing them. This was a terrible example.

De-escalation isn't the same as doing nothing. You can prevent kidnapping through de-escalation. It's been happening. I trust the people actually on the ground doing the work to say what's best for their communities, and they are, in mass, saying non-violence+de-escalation training is most effective

Don't contact police. Multiple people have gone to them for help. In response they lied to them, helped ICE trap them, and in general ignored the problem. I've heard their voices in recordings, they genuinely could not care less what happens to the people asking for help.
