Oversized Load Transport to Impact Traffic Between Jay and Portland

Drivers should plan ahead for delays, road closures, and traffic pattern adjustments.
AUGUSTA – September 28, 2026 —The Maine Department of Transportation is issuing an advisory of an oversize load transport of a heat recovery steam generator by Barnhart. On September 29, the transport will begin moving out of Jay at 6 PM and will continue to the next holdover point of either Oxford or Turner until 6 AM. This move is expected to take at least two nights and will involve a convoy of support vehicles, law enforcement escorts, utility crews, and specialized transport personnel. This load will be moving very slowly and may cause delays.
Due to the size of this transport, the load and support team will occupy most of the roadway along several sections of the route. The load is 20 feet wide, nearly 20 ft tall and nearly 220 feet long. The load will take up the width of two traveling lanes. Residents and businesses along the route are asked to avoid parking on the street during the movement window. Parked vehicles could obstruct the convoy and create unsafe conditions. The route for the move is Jay: Riley Road to Crash Road; then Route 4, Route 117, Route 26, U.S. Route 202, Route 22, U.S. Route 1, Broadway, and Elm Street in South Portland.
Motorists may experience temporary delays, rolling road closures, and traffic pattern adjustments as the convoy progresses. Local police departments and support crews will be managing intersections and roadway access to ensure safe passage.
This transport is the first of nine total oversize loads scheduled to move along this route. After the successful delivery of the first load, an updated movement schedule will be released for the remaining eight loads. The next transports are expected to take place over multiple nights over the next two months.
MaineDOT appreciates the understanding and patience of the traveling public during this oversize load transport.

Dear Sagadahoc Friends,

We are returning to the historical Topsham Grange Hall on Saturday, October 24, for our annual Harvest Supper. The event will be held from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., beginning with appetizers and followed by a buffet dinner and homemade desserts.

What a great setting for a delicious, informal meal with people who share your values and concerns!

Many of our legislative and local candidates have confirmed that they will be attending the event. You will have an opportunity to talk with them about their efforts to protect the interests of Maine people in this difficult time. We will provide more information about our guests and the program in the following days.

Click here [https://secure.actblue.com/donate/harvestsupper2026] to join the HOST Committee with a gift of $125, or purchase an Individual ticket with a gift of $25. Students or children under 18 are welcome to attend free of charge.

Your gift underwrites our Topsham office, outreach activities, and a slate card mailed to 6500 Sagadahoc households before early voting starts on October 5th.

Thank you for your support!

If you are interested in helping with the event--either by bringing an appetizer or dessert or helping to set up the meal--please contact Gretta Wark at grettawark@gmail.com or 207-844-3428 (call or text). We are a small, scrappy crew, and we welcome having you join us!

A blue plastic container that has the words
“Storz

Cat-No. 39311P”
written in white on the side. The container has sawdust on it so I assume it was used as a garage/shed storage container. The clear top cover of the storage container. It has the words:
“Storz

It’s covered in sawdust and has some holes in it that were obviously part of the design.

Announcement from the Maine Democrats regarding the firings, suspensions and attempts to unionize by CMMC nurses. #MEDems #MEPolitics #Unions #CMMC #Nurses
“Maine Democrats
We stand with CMMC nurses and their right to organize.

CMMC nurses are organizing for a stronger voice in their workplace and in the care they provide their patients. Now, as nurses prepare to vote on forming a union, 15 nurses have been fired and five others suspended.

Nurses have a right to organize and advocate for themselves and their patients without fear of intimidation or retaliation. The decision of whether to form a union belongs to CMMC nurses and Prime Healthcare must respect their right to make that decision freely.

We call on Prime Healthcare to ensure a free and fair union election and address the serious concerns surrounding these firings and suspensions.

CMMC nurses deserve respect, dignity, and a voice in the decisions that affect their patients and their workplace.”“Maine Democrats
