My husband has a theory as to why so many conservatives used ivermectin for covid and felt better after. It's not that it had any impact on treating covid (or even the placebo effect), but that the drug killed all the parasites people have inside them from eating under cooked pork.

I went to the allergist to get my epi pen rx refilled today. They had a huge sign encouraging people to mask, but of course I was the only person wearing one. When my unmasked doctor asked me why I was masking, I told him I have had long covid and don't want it again. He said "very smart."

In grad school, I studied how US-backed structural adjustment policies in Africa essentially strip mined nations of their public services and safety nets, destroying the environment and impoverishing the people so multinational corporations could profit. My family lost our home and all our possessions in a 2008 wildfire. Two nights ago the same happened to my aunt and is continuing to happen to thousands of families in Los Angeles. The people cheering on the destruction of California absolutely disgust me. Climate change will come for all of us.

I think my aunt may have lost her house in the Eaton fire in East LA. Don’t know details yet, she was one of the first to have to evacuate. We will hopefully learn more as the day progresses. Stay safe LA friends and family!

Denial around the now near constant spread of illness is getting out of control. Tried to warn my friend about bird flu and his backyard flock (it’s now documented in our county). He told me to never mention bird flu to him again… like sure, but not mentioning it won’t make it go away.
