This valet went out this week to a customer. I enjoy making these. They are simple and elegant. My husband also adds to them with leatherworking.

As an experiment and to gain experience, we went to a small vendor event in our home town. It was a positive experience. #woodworking #leatherworking #woodworkingwomen

This is just me, my main shadow Lil G, and a leg home from college. My best take away from this photo is the smile on my face. I recently shed the golden shackles and became a full time entrepreneur. And I'm free. I intend to spend my time making people smile with my work.

Making progress on the turtle enclosure. This is the first time I came out and found turtles spontaneously in my new water feature. Squirtle looks pleased. #turtles #boxturtle #homestead

My boy Skeet in the Oklahoma wind. Weather is psychotic right now, so the turtles are unsure if winter is over or not. I’m ready for spring.

This box has been interesting. I’m reclaiming a cutting board and a huge chunk came out while I was trying to get fancy. But I can fix that. #woodworking

Some progress today. My hole outline is basically big enough, now it has to get deep. And I have most of my project components. I love this shit.

If you haven't watched the new The Muppet Show special that came out last week, stop what you are doing and go stream it. Sometimes you just need to smile with all we are bombarded with today. I'm not saying it is Emmy worthy or anything, but it made me smile.

Using all my tools to make boxes. I don’t know why, but I’ve always loved them. The one on the left: walnut and mahogany. On the right, my favorite: walnut and box elder.

I don't know about you guys, but I've been having a tough week. We forge on, though. Here is a little bauble I created and put on the Etsy Shop. I don't like dangle earrings, but my daughters do. www.shuboxworkshop.etsy.com

This woman embodied what it means to be a true warrior. Not one requiring force, but a warrior that fights for all people to really live. Jane fought for a kinder world where we all can live our truths. With so much hate around us, we need more Janes. I feel a little less without her here now.

As a small scale maker trying to build a business, I can easily see how the economy for the common person is struggling. My costs are up in every way, personal and business. And sales are few and far between. Here's hoping the 4th quarter is strong. I'm coping with new drawer knobs for sale.

I’m on softball vacation in Colorado and was just roaming around amongst trees looking for carving treasure. For a few minutes, I was lost in childhood like freedom, cavorting with rabbits and hiding in trees. If only we allowed life to be more like this.

My first big harvest and lucky to have it. Fighting the bugs and hail is hard work. And for these squash, I’m having to artificially inseminate them, which is weird and annoying. But I do love my gardening. #garden #homestead

This is a box I made for a local business that mills wood. The owner gave me a piece of walnut to make him something that I promptly destroyed making 2 boxes I tried to get too fancy with. I think this is a good quality box, so I’m done.

Going to the Goodwill Outlet is so entertaining. Weirdest find yet. Dead fish is a murky blue liquid. I can’t imagine why this was given to goodwill or put up for sale. #thrifting #resale
