This valet went out this week to a customer. I enjoy making these. They are simple and elegant. My husband also adds to them with leatherworking.

As an experiment and to gain experience, we went to a small vendor event in our home town. It was a positive experience. #woodworking #leatherworking #woodworkingwomen

This is just me, my main shadow Lil G, and a leg home from college. My best take away from this photo is the smile on my face. I recently shed the golden shackles and became a full time entrepreneur. And I'm free. I intend to spend my time making people smile with my work.

I would agree. Economy is terrible. I, however, am just going full time out of sheer stubbornness.

Just watching a softball game with a frog on a Saturday morning.

Nice little June harvest. And I’m only bleeding a little from the blackberries. #gardening #homestead

Making progress on the turtle enclosure. This is the first time I came out and found turtles spontaneously in my new water feature. Squirtle looks pleased. #turtles #boxturtle #homestead

Very cute. You and I have a similar style. I love seeing the progression in your work. Keep it up!

I mostly use danish oil and that is what this is. These are the base to picture frames. Two coats with some steel wool for the last gives them a smooth finish.

The beautiful process of oiling walnut. #woodworking

Done that before. My daughter took the truck to college. This stuff came from a cabinet maker and was 10'. I haven't fully calculated it, but it's worth way more than the $200 I paid.

I found a great bargain on a bunch of white oak today. Beautiful stuff. #woodworking

Understand completely. My therapy too. Japanese is pretty. I like machines and tech, so I lean that way, but loving seeing all the cool ways people make art with wood.

I love poplar when it has funky streaks of color like that. Very nice.

It is difficult for me to understand what is happening in the world right now. All I know is that I do not consent. #resist

This place really has a major league vibe. Love it! All women’s softball games should get this much attention. #wcws #fastpitch #womenssports

My boy Skeet in the Oklahoma wind. Weather is psychotic right now, so the turtles are unsure if winter is over or not. I’m ready for spring.

Great advice. I woodwork and thrift. You can definitely get some great bargains in estate sale garages.

There are a lot of drawbacks to where I live, but Dallas traffic is not one of them.

Thanks for the repost Carla. I've always been unimpressed with metal hinges, so I'm trying to figure out pretty ways to use wood ones. I'm glad you like it.

Yes, weird dust for sure. And no, I don't have a pic of the box. It's for sale in a shop.

This box has been interesting. I’m reclaiming a cutting board and a huge chunk came out while I was trying to get fancy. But I can fix that. #woodworking

I made my first box partly out of padauk. Very pretty. But I haven't used it since. Very chippy.

Good to know I'm not the only one who is always messy with whatever finish I use. Mine was stain tonight.

That's amazing though. I'm sure it served its intended purpose well, and now it gets to be transformed into something else that will be wonderful.

Shubox Workshop @shuboxworkshop.com · 16/02/2026

Very much agreed. It can be awfully hard to unplug sometimes. When I get in the groove out in the shop, it can just be me creating in a way that makes me feel fulfilled. And in the end, with flaws I've done my best to fix, is a wonderful piece of art (even if just to me).

I try to do the same as much as possible. If I can get exercise doing something productive, that's the best. I'm prepping the garden area right now.

Some progress today. My hole outline is basically big enough, now it has to get deep. And I have most of my project components. I love this shit.
