build a VM for the LC3 computer in Go to learn how it works deeply. added property based testing using hegel. it helped me find so many bugs, pretty neat! I can play games on my own VM now! github.com/shraddhaag/t...

Doing a fun project and the guide I'm following is brilliant, not only for the content but also for these hidden gems in it!
“The view that machines cannot give rise to surprises is due, I believe, to a fallacy to which philosophers and mathematicians are particularly subject. This is the assumption that as soon as a fact is presented to a mind all consequences of that fact spring into the mind simultaneously with it. It is a very useful assumption under many circumstances, but one too easily forgets that it is false.” — Alan M. Turing

"If AI has taught me anything, its the worthlessness of sycophantic praise." such an astute observation that is felt across industries today! found this quote in a youtube video about book reviews of all things, great video too! www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbRR...

my favorite part about this "how the heck" series I've been working on is that people clearly have an appetite for the web being a clean and beautiful place where you can just learn things

started reading the second edition of Designing Data Intensive Applications and we're off to a good start... or are we?
We have also added discussions of sync engines and local-first software, workflow engines and durable execution, formal methods and randomized testing, GraphQL, and various other technologies that are worth knowing about. We have included a bit of legal context as well, by exploring the impact of the EU General Data Protection
Regulation (GDPR) and related law. We’ve also taken a few things away—for example, as MapReduce is now largely obsolete, we have rewritten the batch processing chapter accordingly, and we sadly decided to drop the Tolkien-style maps.

This reminds me of something Toni Morrison wrote.
You know, they straightened out the Mississippi River in places, to make room for houses and livable acreage. Occasionally the river floods these places. "Floods" is the word they use, but in fact it is not flooding; it is remembering. Remembering where it used to be. All water has a perfect memory and is forever trying to get back to where it was.

Was revisiting some of my past reads and I absolutely love it when small books pack a punch! This one is aptly named, Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan.
The worst was yet to come, he knew. Already he could feel a world of trouble waiting for him behind the next door, but the worst that could have happened was also already behind him; the thing not done, which could have been - which he would have had to live with for the rest of his life.

Was doing a bit of research and wondering if there is a place to find a catalogue of incidents and their retrospectives? If there is a place where they are tagged with tech involved too, that would be a cherry on top!

I dealt with a severe pain in my wrist thanks to ulnar nerve deviation. I could barely type and couldn’t do many day to day activities. It took a whole year and a half for it to heal. Even now if I strain too much the pain comes back. Didn’t understand the important of ergonomics before 🙆🏻‍♀️

Rewatched Prisoner of Azkaban today and I forgot just how good it is as compared to the first two movies, what a step up. Brilliant cinematography. The changing dynamic between the grown up trio is shown so subtly yet done well! And the Whomping Willow, truly a character in this one. Loved it 💯
