I'm actually in Ottawa, I just want all Ontario cities to grow. Cities are what create wealth and that means we need to be investing in them.

Prime Minister @mark-carney.bsky.social, the Calgary Climate Hub heartily endorses this challenge. Markham is a good friend of the Hub, one of Canada’s best energy writers and he plays fair ball. Make your case to Canadians! #cdnpoli #MarkCarney #ClimateChange #yyc

You seem to be experiencing paranoid ideation. It's important that you talk to somebody and don't self-isolate especially if you are experiencing anxiety or depression. There is help. There is always a tomorrow. This to will pass.

I think that there are parts of the gaming culture that confuse corporate interest with their interest. Blizzard is competing with Square for your dollars therefore WOW players and FF14 players are on two competing teams. Not sure what makes some games worse about this than others though.

Proton moves you from one operating system to the other and fex moves you from one instruction set to the other.

Half correct When they launched the steam deck they also launched Proton which lets programs compiled for Windows to run on Linux. When they launched steam frame last month they also launched FEX which lets programs compiled for x86 chips (desktop chips) to run on arm (phone chips).

This is part of why I think FEX and the whole steam on ARM push is so important for Valve. No matter how this shakes out people will still have phones.

The start of the broader public's turn on Justin was when he called an opportunistic election to capitalize on his strong support during Covid. In the end seat counts barely moved and he put a target on his back. Same with Doug Ford in 2025. Canadians seem to hate snap elections these days

Doug Ford is ripping out bike lanes in Toronto starting next week. This will make our street less safe, add pollution to our cities and make congestion worse, not better. Join the thousands of people fighting to reverse Doug Ford's bike lane ban: gpo.ca/bikelanes

How many years do you need to be nice before being angry is OK? 20? 30? 50? The Nakba was in 1948. That is 75 years between it and 2023. They've already spent a whole human life being oppressed.

Rick Leary, he failed out at the TTC and Boston's MTBA. He was literally forced to leave his role in Boston after he failed to appear at a tribunal for the system's appalling safety record. Another upward failure in Ontario politics. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Le...

Not the usual fare for the Financial Post. I make the case why I think we *are* in a productivity crisis, one that has been predicted for over 40 years; but not for the reasons we thought. And the fix won't come from where we thought either.

Driver kills pedestrian on Hwy. 50 in Gatineau, Que. Why are you using a passive construction? Is it because you think the driver is blameless? Opps! someone died, nothing to be done. Any Canadian out walking around should just has to accept the risk of being pancaked.

Nice false equivalency. The American privacy standard lets Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook exploit your data to steal attention and make children harm themselves. We must work with our European allies to rein in and break the Tech Oligarchs.

I want the committee to work. This being an omnibus bill is the problem. If this was introduced as multiple bills committees could workshop each of them and pass the ones where there was agreement. Doing it as an omnibus just breeds resentment.

Bill C-39 would amend the current law to give the minister the power to end a strike “adversely affect the national interest” Who defines national interest? This change will outlast this gov. If a Jamil type is voted in are you OK with him deciding who can strike? This is a poorly drafted bill

How about cooperating with parliament instead of ramming through an omnibus bill. How about cooperating with labor instead of removing the ability to strike. How about cooperating with first nations instead of oil billionaires who destroy the environment. The rich only cooperate with each other.

Counter point, Canada has a problem with business investment. It's a big contributor to our low productivity. Maybe a foreign investment would be more likely to invest but I would like to see that in a contract before hand. History has told me to never give a businesses the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, I think that's a good summation of my view. Having spent some more time thinking about it, I think a good solution is to offer contracts for individual services within the airport. That way if one service is going poorly we can replace that contractor without disrupting the whole thing
230
ShowingOff @showingoff.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Yes absolutely, and I think that because airports are captive markets (natural monopolies) the arrangements we make should ensure public accountability. I think there are two good ways to do that. Either they need to compete with someone or be publicly owned.

They are in theory responsible to the public. If someone is elected who thinks they are doing a bad job they can fire people / reorg stuff. I don't think that Carney ran his campaign on that though. In my mind he ran on building new infrastructure not selling old infrastructure.
