If you were in games media in 2010-2016 or so, almost every outlet you worked for was shut down or rendered a shell of its former self. 90% of your peers burnt out or were harassed out of the industry. Game review rates went from several hundred dollars to a few dozen.

I WANT to like the Megaman X games. I like the story and how they build off of each other with cutscenes and the gallery’s information. I like all the villains VISUALLY and CONCEPTUALLY, but actually having to fight them in X3 is miserable. So far only Maverick Hunter X has been truly great.

Megaman X3 might be worse than X2. Nearly every boss can only be won in a battle of attrition where you have to tank hits and kill them before they kill you, OCCASIONALLY getting a lucky dodge, but only if you go out of your way for upgrades because they are REQUIRED! It’s such fucking bullshit.

Sengoku Basara 4 in Japanese makes me more depressed than any piece of media ever has. It SHOULD be fun, but Sengoku Basara lives or dies by its voice acting and character dialogue. The Japanese version has crap acting and the worst dialogue. Samurai Heroes would’ve never caught on without its dub.

Corpse Killer is a bad game, but the behind the scenes videos bring a smile to my face. I think even Screaming Villains knows it’s bad, but they wanted to show that people cared. Playing it is like a formality to get to the fun stuff. I loved the behind the scenes video of MK Mythologies too.

I’m playing Night Trap. The 25th anniversary edition has settings that let you play it with simulated video compression of the consoles it used to be on and both a Japanese and French voice track. I don’t think the Japanese dub gets brought up enough. It has actors still around today.
