For the next half of the year: Boundaries. No longer spending energy on who or what doesn't serve me and focusing on those that see my worth instead.

on Thursdays and Fridays, we have 90-minute blocks. What I've learned: it takes a lot of work to design a lesson for a 90-minute block; but when it goes right (key word: "when") it can be really, really cool: thebrokencopier.substack.com/p/a-really-g...

Moving here permanently because: 1) Why is Twitter asking me if I want to open Twitter using Twitter 😭 2) My students have found my insta and threads (well, this one is on me since I have both show up on my profile aiauaoaj). At least they're not my students anymore after tomorrow!!!

Need to post here more frequently, right.... Update no one needed, but last day of my job is this Friday! Have I counted down? Sorta? It's not over till it's over and all that!

"Get on board or get left behind" is not an argument for AI in schools. It's just pressure. Teachers deserve time to understand what they're adopting. The research on school change is brutal - most of it fails. Urgency isn't a reason to stop asking questions.

So yes: should designing for and articulating meaning be core to our work in the classroom? Yes, yes, yes. Is it the solution to this tidal wave of unregulated technology colliding with inadequate policy in education? Not even close.

"Now is the time for peace" after bombing another country is about as Orwellian as it gets. Like, remember what it was like reading 1984 the first time? How it felt reading that, realizing what was happening, that feeling in your gut? Yep. That. Right now.

3. Collaborate as communities on the values that are going to be in play when it comes to AI use and schooling. I would put transparency for all (students, admins, teachers) above all. If we can at least agree on the goal of the educational activities we can reorient the work somewhere better.

My former school treated AI as 5. and before I left I knew this would only make students use it "without telling", it makes the battle tougher, not easier. (But hey, I had already resigned so... Not like they needed my input 🫠)

Glad to see you all again, I'm Tashiro Sumire.

I've just opened an IG account.
I hope to be able to share my updates with you all again, even if it's just a little bit.

I know some of you are worried about my health condition, but I have been doing well recently.

I've been reflecting on myself, and I once again felt that I wanted to keep you all updated, so I hope to be able to do it, little by little!

I'm sure there will be a lot of different opinions, but I'd love it if you would kindly keep an eye on me ☺️

When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

Don't wanna jinx it but it would be REALLY nice if I get this EAL job teaching middle school kiddies. If I DO get it, It's a 1 hr+ commute but it's a small price to pay for a smaller school & seemingly potentially good colleagues. Though at the same time I don't want to overthink it🫠 Fingers crossed

Take the time to care for yourself and do what you enjoy while your body is still relatively healthy and can handle travels / trips! Work isn't your life - really set some work-life balance so you don't burn out.
