A real mystery how so many graduate applicants send me emails explicitly stating that they're read the materials on my website and immediately ask to meet to discuss potential projects when my materials explicitly (bolded AND highlighted) state that I do not ever have such meetings.

At the risk of starting discourse: I provide students guidance how to make a study guide, they get course text, the slides, and recorded lectures. I explain that their making their own study guide is what will help retention the information. And still some students complain there's no guide.
