I'm far too organised today, and that's not necessarily a good thing! 2 eggs hard boiled for later today or tomorrow slow cooker loaded with fresh ingredients for chilli con carne. That's actually for tomorrow & freezing. Already managed to piss off my daughter Not even 9am! Need more coffee ☕

I kept that job for about a year and actually enjoyed it - plus it put cash in my pocket. I realise now I was gender diverse then - I didn't mind the pink tabard or the stereotypical female roles. I still know the woman who gave me that job, and she's having lunch with my mother this weekend. 2/2

A little personal history from the very early 80s has just come to mind. I was between jobs but still at secondary school in 1981 and was offered the chance to work on the North Sea Ferries that berthed nearby. That job was casual chambermaiding as part of a gang. 1/2

One added issue with #climatechange is that meal planning goes out of the window. Today's stew might be used tomorrow or Saturday, or even frozen. For when the winter storms eventually hit, I already have a number of precooked meals (home made) in the freezer and will add to that number shortly.

I'm in either East Anglia or the South East depending where the line is drawn, next to the North Sea; it's always cooler here Spring to Autumn. The weather here has broad patterns with a very local microclimate. NB I have spent 40 years in this area. Nothing currently makes sense #climatechange

After overheating a couple of days ago, I have resorted to my summer wardrobe in order to keep comfortable. It's currently 24C in here, 19C outside and will get warmer I'm in a very short minidress this morning, barely decent, with bare legs & sandals. It's the middle of flipping October! #climate

Heads up for Essex/Suffolk/Norfolk rail travel 27 Dec to 3 Jan: Liverpool Street/Stratford to Shenfield will be closed. Bus replacement from Ingatestone and Shenfield to Newbury Park. Expect usual issues. Other engineering works will affect UK rail travel late Dec into Jan 2027 Check first!

The building where I live has a shared access garden/yard. I had put my washing out and came back to check, finding almost 2 dozen herring gulls at very low level. One of the residents had taken the whinging of a junior gull* to mean it was hungry, so had fed it. I realised this far too late 1/2

Feeding gulls is not a good idea. Soon there was almost a scene from a Hitchcock movie. I retreated. I think the guy has realised his very very stupid error. *The junior gull in question was abandoned by parents in July and has frequently been found here, bleating for their return. 2/2

Earlier this year I asked my GP to make a referral request (with evidence) for breast cancer genetic investigations, via an NHS clinic in London. That referral was denied and used various transphobic smears. My GP came back to me today and offered to resubmit the referral, I have agreed.

The next decent place, with a wide choice of pubs, is Colchester. A year or so back I had walked out of a pub before having a biological argument but that was no great loss. One small place, very close to the main station, had good ale and a friendly atmosphere, until yesterday. 2/4

When I (finally) transitioned in 2023 there was no intermediate steps, everything changed to the feminine overnight - including HMRC and NHS. I immediately used the female toilet facilities wherever I was, that especially included pubs. I don't use pubs where I live (they're awful) so I travel 1/4
