Off to the polls next week on my 🎂, for the Manchester Mayoral election. I have a 1st and 2nd choice. Yippee! Do I vote for who I 'really, really want' or to keep the wolves at bay. It's made the decision harder, unless you are of a certain political persuasion. They both begin with R.

Had a family (oldies) get together yesterday in my garden, the recent heatwave was mentioned. After much discussion it was agreed it was much hotter when we were kids, as not one of us present has seen the tar in the roads melt, nor had been hit by a lolly ice cross, made by a kid with said tar.

Yesterday, I saw a meme about UC recipients. I always check. Not all its info was right. But this is: In Febr 2026, 83.6% of UC claimants were British or Irish citizens, 1.6% were refugees. 76.2% of claimants with known ethnicity were White. That's a poverty problem, not an immigration problem.

The Farage Fandango over the £5m seems to me to be a golden opportunity for a Labour Prime Minister with a massive majority to say "Right. Now we are going to put a stop to all foreign donations to British political parties". Hugely popular with his base and more widely and spikes their guns.

To date, I have had a Reform leaflet through my letterbox, a local independent party leaflet, (although they had a recent defector to Reform 'they best suit my values') you don't always get what you pay for. That's it! Nowt from any other party.
