A friends wish list on retiring was to learn a language. He chose German, after being informed it best suited his 'Scouse' accent. He invited me to join him, I declined as my own wish list was slow in completing (never seemed to have the time)! 'They just make words up', was his reason for failure.

As a kid and a member of the 'bottom' gang, you took your life in your hands, if you strayed into the territory of the 'top gang' in our street. Never knew what number house was the cut off, cease fire in force going, in, coming home from School. Mandatory retirement at age 8.

Rose tinted glasses. In 1980 I had an Italian bank account, due to the exchange rate regularly had over a million lira deposited. In 1992 would regularly get 180 pesetas to my pound when crossing border from Gib into Spain. Although I know better, for that split second I think I'm being robbed.
