been struggling with supply chain issues as a small manufacturer of controls equipment for some time, but we’re just A Little Guy™️ with relatively low volume Tridium has a HUGE share of the commercial HVAC market though, so for them to change licensing to avoid using SD cards is… not good 😬

CHALLENGE

Due to ongoing supply chain challenges, the cost of SD cards has increased significantly. In addition, SD card availability has become increasingly constrained.

WHAT IS CHANGING

In response, Tridium has decided to modify the JACE 9000 licensing model so that an SD card is no longer required for licensing or operation. The JACE 9000 already has the ability to generate an internal Host ID, which provides the foundation for this change.

I wish there was an N Scale E9 available in the Executive paint scheme, but current options are an SD70MAC from Kato (though Rapido is coming out with their new SD70MAC models next year as well, in this scheme as well)
