On this #caturday I salute F-cat, who has learned a new self-entertaining game. F-cat has figured out that in the late afternoon, the sun is at the perfect angle to throw traffic reflections onto the wall. It's a self-moving toy that the F-cat can hear coming and leap at for hours. #catsky #cats

2/2: We all have impact. We all know far too many examples of how human impact negatively impacts wildlife. But we can have positive impact too, including our love of #art giving a wren an entirely cool nesting site. Yes, that's a metal anglerfish. Yes, that's a nesting wren. Art feeds us all.

I know there's a lot going on, with lots of difficult stuff. So for those who need a respite, I'm posting a little #bloomscrolling. Specifically of the mystery rose that is blooming right now. It is an incredibly fragrant once-blooming climber that starts out dark red and fades to true rose. #garden

Today could definitely use some #bloomscrolling lift, don't you think? So here, have a mystery #peony! This peony is pink...except it's not. It starts off as a pale pink bud, but over the course of a day or two as it opens, it fades to a silvery-white. Really neat #flower. Variety guesses welcome!

2/ This particular dahlia blooms were huge, yet still stay upright without stakes. I love the delicate difference in shading between the bud, the outer petals, and the inner petals.

An unexpected surprise in my garden today. Two years ago I planted a few Tricyrtis “Dark Beauty” bulbs in a pot. Supposedly they want deep shade and constant moisture. I have a dark shady spot, so I figured it was worth a try and put the pot there. Nothing last year, but this year... #garden
