Our household (specifically Mr P) used to love "rooster sauce" (chili garlic sauce, specifically Huy Phong), but a) it's become harder to find, and b) Huy Phong changed farm suppliers a while back and the new stuff isn't as good. Fast forward to today, when we finally got around to experimenting.

I have bug spatter on my car. Although this means I need to clean the front grill and the windshield/windscreen, this makes me happy. Why? Because it's the sign of a healthier ecosystem, and not just for bugs. You read a lot about songbird decline. One reason? LACK OF FOOD, because pesticides.

This is a cat check point. Relinquish your most recent cat picture. (These cats know what you did.)

Three cats stare at you from their positions on or near a brown sofa. One is a brown and cream longhaired tabby. The other two are black and white tuxedo cats. Their eyes reflect the knowledge of what you did. They are quite possibly conspiring, or perhaps just gossiping about you (and judging accordingly). Your best plan is to back away slowly, never breaking eye contact.

I know there's a lot going on, with lots of difficult stuff. So for those who need a respite, I'm posting a little #bloomscrolling. Specifically of the mystery rose that is blooming right now. It is an incredibly fragrant once-blooming climber that starts out dark red and fades to true rose. #garden

A rose-red rose with many petals, fully open, exposing bright yellow stamens. In the background is its lime-green foliage. In the right corner is a blurred image of a just-opening rose, which is a dark red. This is the best jam rose, as it is incredibly fragrant and the jam it makes is a true rose color.
