I'm developing an e-learning course and wondering if it's possible to do it with #rstats #Quarto. Has anyone developed one with Quarto? I need advice.

I'm looking to contribute to open-source projects. I'm particularly interested in projects in the green sector (energy, climate change, sustainability, etc), but also open to working on projects in other areas. If you have any GitHub issues pending that need attention, feel free to reach out.

Does anyone know of a case where a #quarto website is embedded in another website that wasn't built with quarto? Ideally, the #quarto content would appear as an additional tab or section on the main website, with the URL reflecting the main site itself rather than the separate quarto deployment.

Hi! I've been working on a #quarto website, and previously, I didn't need to re-render the site after every edit to a .qmd file. Simply refreshing the browser would integrate the changes. I only needed to re-render once I was done editing. 1/2

Also footnote markers can be labels and not just numbered, e.g. [^rmd-formats] instead of [^4], which helps me keep track of those notes when I move the text around

In #rstats #quarto, when writing documents that contain footnotes, I tend to move things around a when editing, disordering the footnote sequence (see first image). I learnt that instead of re-numbering manually, I can just click on 'visual' then 'source' again and the sequence is normalised.
Image of quarto document where the ordering of footnotes is jumbled up. Image of quarto document showing the correct order of footnotes.

Hi #rstats fam. Everytime I render my #quarto website, the process renders all the qmd files even for posts I made ages ago. Ideally, I want to render only the files I edit (for example file 22 in the image below). I have the option 'freeze:auto' on every qmd file but it doesn't seem to work.

New blog post! I helped build Idaho's official election results website (with #rstats and #quartopub) and we did some neat stuff to auto-generate hundreds of R chunks. Here's a guide about how to create tabsets and slides programmatically with inline knitr chunks www.andrewheiss.com/blog/2024/11...
Screenshot of Idaho's 2024 general election results websiteScreenshot from the blog post showing how an inline R chunk can create a panel tabset programmatically.

---

Finally, we need to concatenate that column into one big string and include it as an inline chunk inside Quarto’s syntax for tabsets:

Health and wealth are related in each continent.

::: {.panel-tabset}

`r knitr::knit(text = paste0(continents_plots_with_text$markdown, collapse = "\n\n"))`

:::

Automatic tabset panels!

Here’s what it looks like when rendered:

(A plot for Asia, with tabs for other continents)Screenshot from the blog post showing another example of an inline R chunk creating a panel tabset. This time it shows how a ggplot plot is gradually built up, with a panel for each new layer that's added.

---

Let's slowly build up the plot:

::: {.panel-tabset}

`r knitr::knit(text = paste0(panels, collapse = "\n\n"))`

:::

(A plot showing the relationship between GDP per capita and life expectancy in 2007, with continent colored using the plasma viridis color palette)Screenshot from the blog post showing an example of multiple continent-specific reports with plots and tables automatically generated with R

---

# Continent reports

Check out all these automatically generated continent reports!

`r knitr::knit(text = paste0(continent_reports, collapse = "\n\n"))`

That single inline chunk automatically generates dozens of inline and block chunks of R code before the full document goes through Quarto, which means all this output gets included in the final rendered version:

You may already know that `dplyr::bind_rows()` allows you to row-bind data frames with mismatched columns.. But did you know you can name the input dfs and use those names as a key in the resulting df? I use this (`.id = `) on a weekly basis - it makes for much cleaner code 🧼 #rstats
