see but by that order of events they started with a car that was close enough in performance to overtake them, and they still had money for more developments, something mercedes couldn't afford to respond too. if it really was that sparingly they would have had a much bigger buffer to mcl and rari

i dont think that really lines up, engine development isn't included in the main cost cap, so if we still assume that ferrari started with the best aero, you have to come to the conclusion that merc spent more money to build a worse chassis, which seems pretty incompetent to me LOL
