When I hear about the U.S. putting more sanctions on Cuba I think about Robert F. William’s book. He talks about how the Cuban revolution was for everyone not just white people and how it was the first time he felt part of the human race.

In keeping with my bad photos of food only, here is my cake: I ended up making an infused caramel which I then layered with blueberry and raspberry. The cake is a lavender earl grey. The topping is a whipped mascarpone frosting. Dusted with some lemon zest.

So I have a problem… that problem is that I love to make bread. So today I made another bread (gotta improve my razor slicing by being less perpendicular). But it brings me so much joy.

A new Kickstand opened up and they serve drinks. Think dirty coffee but with sodas. I got a Georgian peach and the bf got some kinda non-alcoholic spicy margarita type drink. Both are delicious. They use Monin (Canadian) syrups too. Check them out #YEG

Every time I see shit coming from the U.S. about Canada forging new trade partners or whatever other thing they’re mad about my brain instantly thinks of this kids book. No idea why but it makes me laugh.

Keeping with my New Year’s resolution of terrible food pics. My late lunch of leftover homemade salmon chowder and fresh bread. I should have spent more time forming the bread loaf but everything else about it is divine.

Bread! It looks stippled because I used an egg wash and some fleur de sel during baking. Then, brushed the bread with butter when it came out of the oven as the bf prefers soft crust (🫤🫠).

Internet I need your help with something stupid. I bought jujubes (don’t judge) and all of them have shapes. There’s peas, corn, a flower… what the fuck is this. Read ALT text if you want more info

A jujube. It is a cuboid shape. It has 4 ridges that extend lengthwise from one end and it wraps around the side. However on one of the short sides the ridges do not extend to the edge and there is a bump that sticks out. It can be seen in the photo. It comes in all the colours so colour appears irrelevant
