Replacing policy changes with exhortations to overburdened individual teachers to ‘become more inclusive’ is a great way to *pretend* to change things. Imagine if basic ‘reasonable adjustments’ for uniform, handwriting or homework had the same national prominence as the mobile phone directive.

I was pretty cynical about the government’s listening exercise on send. But the more that is leaked, the more cynical it appears their whole approach is and was to disabled children and their families. It’s heartbreaking and cruel.

The 'parents of disabled children' club was one I didn't want to join, and yet was shattered to leave with the death of my daughter in February. Re-engaging with these issues at this time, I find extremely difficult.
