Nepal is seeking $5 billion in aid from the UN’s climate-disaster recovery fund after devastating floods. The fund, established in 2023, has received $820 million in pledges but faces a significant financing gap because wealthy nations, including the US, haven't been willing to contribute.

We are so happy to hear how our microgrant was able to help this animal behaviour student! We would like to thank them for sharing this testimony. Learn more about our microgrants, or donate to help us continue to support animal behaviour students, on our website: opencollective.com/animal-behav...
In this image is a quote from a microgrant recipient, a PhD student from Columbia studying in the United States. It reads: 'I am so grateful with the microgrant. In that moment, I was in need to change my car brakes and my savings were not enough. As an international student I am not allowed to work outside of the university, which makes my economic life very difficult because I am in one of the programs with the lowest payment for grad students of the country. Added to that, the town has no public transportation system, which makes a car one of the most important items in daily life and thanks to you, I could keep driving to school safely with the brakes changes.'This image reads: We rely on donations to support students. Consider making a one-off donation or signing up as a monthly backer! Next funding round opens: September 21st 2026.

As a primatologist, Jane Goodall was a huge inspiration to me. I admired the way she describes chimpanzee behavior with such detail and empathy, and she’s inspired so many people and advocated for chimpanzee conservation and welfare. However, I'm dismayed at what her narrative leaves out (1/10)
