Because Canada's baseline export volume to the US is so massive, a modest 4% bump in Canadian production and pipeline flow would equal roughly 36-40M barrels over that same timeframe, completely offsetting Russian supply.

Effective October 9, 2026, I am resigning my position as a Bencher with the Law Society of Alberta.
The purpose of the Law Society is to uphold and protect the public interest in the administration of justice. It is with real disappointment that I say I have lost faith that this body is fulfilling that purpose.
The rule of law is under vicious attack in this province and I am not the first, nor will I be the last, to call this out.
When an institution is silent in the face of what is happening in this province, that silence is complicity.
In the last year I have watched the Law Society move to dismantle the diversity, equity and inclusion work we built over several years, in response to the political ideologies of the current government. An institution truly committed to those principles would defend them when it became inconvenient to do so. Commitments that disappear the moment they are tested were never commitments at all.
I am not willing to lend my name or my presence to decisions I cannot support.

Prices for care in Japan are set by the national gov for the entire country. There is some regional variances due to a points system for the care fees based on population density and other factors I don’t know.

Canadas health system is decline due to premiers that are not actually held to account for failing the health system. We have for profit delivery too. Ultimately elected politician accountability is our failing. Look to Japan or S Korea, their systems are national, faster, & very different.

It’s not good. Keep no fault and have more robust public oversight for how the system works. I say a citizens assembly like group every 2 years to vote on major issues. The public should decide how much coverage because it impacts the cost and support after events.

State capture amped up. Infoway cost us billions on what should have taken a year tops. + 2 decades & the board chair was given the order of Canada for nothing. Infoway CEO terminated, board all good & gov refuses to investigate it all. There is so much fixing to do on MP accountability.

Public healthcare needs both MP & MLA accountability act with real teeth. Japan strips pensions from elected if they fail bad enough. Politicians need Health authorities to say everything is fine to help election. Gov’s hide system failure behind the CMPA (private investors dream) = coverup culture
