It's very interesting that YouTube is making it harder to contest a nonsense copyright violation right when AI is becoming such a huge part of its content. And by "interesting" I mean "makes me want to flip a very heavy desk".

It's Feelgood Friday! After a week of annoyances, it's nice to pop into reviews and see lovely new comments from Boring Books for Bedtime listeners. As we approach eight (EIGHT!) years of never-missed-a-Monday posting, it's gratifying that people get something out of it.

On top of the soothing voice of an actual person there's no ads where I'm jolted awake in the middle of the night by someone way too excited about Rogaine for Men. I listen every single night, my only wish is for more Ancient Greek literature!Another five-star review for Boring Books for Bedtime that says:

I love this podcast so much. I would have to say I like the newer episodes more, without the background music and more hurried reading. I think she's really nailed it lately. Soothing voice, just slightly boring enough topics and no jarring ads to jolt you awake just as you're drifting off. I highly recommend supporting her via Patreon if you listen regularly so we can all continue to drift off ad free [purple heart emoji]

This has been going on in the comments section of my podcast, Boring Books for Bedtime, for at least a year. In part it's because I have been around for 8 years; they usually congregate on old episodes that are "quiet." Nice to see it happens to Big Dogs, too!

Once again I’m here to laud the fall monitor in the Apple Watch. Didn‘t need the services called this time, but it is weirdly comforting to have it. If you have an older person in your life (or a klutz, honestly) I highly recommend one. Things happen.

I just had the weirdest realization today while cleaning out old crap that in 1985 I wrote what was essentially an isekai novel that was almost published. I got discouraged and threw it in a box. Haven’t looked at it since but that’s about to change. Ahead of its time, maybe? Hmmmm #writing

You know, I don't use (okay, appropriate) the word "Bodhisattva" lightly, but a blazingly good person who actively lifts others up happens so rarely that it's hard not to. Dolly Parton was one of those rare humans trying to help others be their best selves. Fred Rogers was another.

When we hate on these disgusting immoral evil billionaires it’s bc just look at everything Dolly did. They could be doing that. They could just be helping people and every day they choose not to help people. They choose to harm. And when they die, we’ll dance and laugh and be thankful they’re gone.

As sad as I am about Dolly Parton (and, honestly, this one hurts), I'm looking at the stories that are being shared and feeling so...inspired? By the gods, I can do so much more. If anyone remembered me with the merest fraction of the love people have for Dolly Parton, I'd be doing great.

Today I went to the doctor for the first time in years. Half the appointment was spent trying to upsell me herbal supplements that the person was clearly getting a kickback for. When I asked about real medicine, I was told I needed to make a second appointment for that consult. It’s all a scam.
