Him viewing a 10k donation as a major financial decision that deserves research and thought is also fine. I guess I just find the response to his quite basic charitable donation guidelines to be absurd and kind of offensive. It's OK to want to quantify things, even when not really possible.

Sure. Not a normal dude who has outsized reach, I agree. But this has still been a mostly dishonest conversation about his view on charitable giving circa 2010. Valuing adults more than babies, when making a donation, is perfectly fine.

No one will understand how great of a threat cutting medicaid and/or medicare funding is for a city, county, state. Most hospitals can't survive that funding lapse without having payroll issues. Can't pay your staff and you're done. The only solution is to get the bigots out.

Simply saying that where they are now raises questions on what is consciousness does require defense (asserting fact). I do not believe llms are conscious as they lack awareness. They do not know if what they are saying is true. Great progress has been made to limit the drawbacks from that.

This isn't that profound. It is just "there is no god" vs "I don't believe in god". The first requires evidence, the second does not. "Llms aren't conscious" is the former, "I don't believe llms are conscious" is the latter. But when you assert a fact (llms aren't conscious), you get to defend it.

Later in the post he does mention things like stopping the spread of disease, etc. And of course, he did ultimately donate to the kid vaccination charity instead of TB (due to to execution I guess). I don't know, this seems like a big hullabaloo over the guy valuing an adult more than a baby.
