The funniest thing is it gets proved in-universe by 3 out of 4 of the other Spectres you meet. Both Saren and Tela Vasir are clearly problems, and it's implied Nihlus wasn't actually much better. The only other Spectre that seems good is Padok Wiks.

I'm mostly just saying let people have fun. Orks don't have to make sense. Whether or not they are completely bending reality in half or just exaggerating the effects of their engineering is entirely up to the author and the density of greenskins. And that's fun.

It's definitely not just tech. Orks build with tech because that's how they were programmed and also it means their stuff will at least generally work even when there's not many around. But once you really get going it can pull off things that it was never meant to do.

Well that is a reasonable headcanon, it's not actually supported by the text itself. There has never been an instance where someone has noted that the red painted machine was just built better. It's always just that it's red and thus faster.

Also, that's how the shokkjump dragsta works. Orks put a turbine on a car and suddenly it can back to the future, only a teleports across the battlefield instead of into the future. And sometimes it does that too.

That's literally something wazdakka -has done-. His fourth edition lower entry noted how he built tellyportas into his bike that were so powerful that he could teleport from worlds to world so that he could waaagh across the universe without ever having to get off his bike.

And ultimately this is all in service of fun. Orks are the only faction where I can genuinely say that everyone is having fun from top to bottom. They are a weird little manic lens on the entirety of a grimdark setting and I would never want to try and make them any more grounded than they have to.

I think one of my favorite literary devices was that an ork's gun had no trigger because if he was holding it why would he not be shooting it. And then model wise, shootas are literally made with car mufflers for barrels, and the flash gitz can make any weird combination of gun work the same.

In 4th edition the red paint job literally added an inch of movement as an upgrade. So faster, but not dramatically so. The waaaghfield is a variable level of applied phlebotinum based entirely on how many orks are there and what the author is feeling in that moment.

I've had every ork codex from 4th edition onward and read most of the ork books. Red ones definitely go faster because orks think they do but it's not that much faster. It's not just magic bullshit, but the more orks there are the less the engineering matters. It's not about tricking one ork,

I'm not one to particularly call any sexual or kinky art degen in any way, but many use it as a point of pride, and I'm not about to try and take that away from them. You can generally tell when someone is using a term welcomingly or maliciously, and when you can't it's usually quick to clarify.

In gerneral I agree with the concept because the term degenerate just inherently contains some bad connotations that people may be internalizing, but there's a long history of targeted groups taking and repurposing the slurs used against them into terms of pride. I think context is key here.
