A month ago I posted that we'd be letting Nyx go and he ended up recovering enough that we got to spend another month with him. It was a great gift despite being uncertain the whole time whether he'd recover or not. Ultimately, we had to say goodbye this week. #HealingPurrsPawty

Nyx continued to decline over the weekend, so we chose to say goodbye at his appointment today. We brought his brother Binx along to say goodbye to him. A month ago, Nyx bounced back & it ended up being a gift that made today feel so less unexpected.

Ultrasound of Nyx's liver still shows hepatic lipidosis. Unfortunately, it appears he isn't likely to recover. He'll be seeing his regular vet soon. Probably be discussing when we should let him go. May not be done immediately as he's been comfortable on his meds but it'll be sooner than later

While Nyx has remained stable since we initially thought he would need to be euthanized, he hasn't exactly improved either. I think he probably has something terminal going on. I'll enjoy and spoil him for whatever time I have left with him

Nyx holding steady. Has made it to 8 lb. He still has some off days even with the gabapentin. I asked whether a steroid could possibly help with any inflammation from the liver/pancreas/possibly even intestine. Vet agreed to give it a try. So we'll see how it goes.

Trying to keep expectations in check but hard not to feel pretty good that Nyx has gained 0.22 lb since last Saturday. He's normally closer to 9.5 lb but dropped to 7.75 when the liver troubles started. One day at a time

Waiting to post this to make sure he really seemed to turn around. Was completely expecting to say goodbye to Nyx this past Monday. He was hiding, wouldn't eat, has been dealing with pancreatitis/hepatic lipidosis. Up until mid Sunday, I had every reason to go thru with it. I began giving gabapentin

He has a catio so I never take him outside like this, but he's been miserable. I don't see things changing by tomorrow, so we'll probably still be saying goodbye. The outdoors has made him happy, though, and he briefly chased a butterfly

#HealingPurrsPawty I'll be saying goodbye to Nyx on Mon after battling liver disease & hepatic lipidosis. 11 yrs seems so soon but they've been so loving. The sweetest cat I've ever had who always greeted everyone in the room. I'm pretty sure u are my soul cat. I know ur brother will miss u too

My cat has been battling liver disease for the past month. No matter how little cat food he ate, he never turned down cooked chicken until today. Gonna ask for more BW and imaging of liver but things aren't feeling too good

Alan Grant is what I 1st knew him as. Watched Jurassic Park probably too young as a 2 yr old but I loved it. He's always been a part of my childhood & I loved watching him in other movies. Not all famous people live up to your expectations but Sam Neill certainly exceeded mine. Genuinely good person

Missed the last half of England/Croatia. Think my cat has a mini stroke. Seems completely recovered now but scared the shit out of me. Soonest appointment available at regular vet is Monday but fully prepared for the ER vet if he gets worse. Hoping it won't come to that. So much more expensive
