Interesting dream last night. A chunk of my hometown got The End of Oak Streeted into the Planet of the Apes (1970s) world. It was very violent. Eventually I found a way out and had to help my old art mentor pick art pieces to rescue from his house before leaving. Zira and Cornelius were helpful.

A close person is having their citizenship audited. They aren’t in danger (probably) but it’s a blatant attempt to extract fines from the state as punishment for things because there’s a time limit to respond with complicated paperwork and heavy fines if it’s not exact.

My book was the first Animorphs. As a series, it prepared me to not lose hope in the face of evil cults that swallow everything you care about including friends and family and dismantle your entire world. It taught me to deal with feeling powerless in the face of such evil by remembering the good.

I watched Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron last night and now I’m staying in a Wild West themed rental house with family. It was a complete coincidence (last minute) but it’s fun. Though, I am surrounded by corn which is more Mid than West. But I do smell cows nearby.

I can’t express how hard this tiny little scene was to paint because supercell colors do not look real, and my limited color set and inability to mix when using pens was all… interesting.

Project for today, started yesterday. Poking through microfossils from the Pungo River Formation (coastal marine remains from 10ish to 20ish mya) from the Aurora Fossil Museum. Found some puffin bones maybe which is exciting. Lots of tiny teeth, too.

More midlife crisis-ing project. Trying to pick colors for a character that has chameleon like abilities. I like collared lizards but I don’t want people to look at them and be like “oh it’s a wonky collared lizard”. Plus it’s head-only so having just that be a different color would be undesirable.
