I despise seeing what’s really going on stuffed into a “but critics say” clause.

Idk who needs to hear this, but there really isn't a humane way to execute somebody. Sanitized yes, but humane...nope.

How about: "City with severe housing crisis overwhelmingly voted to fast-track new homes – and now it’s finally happening."

yes-- its also people who don't feel the mayor should have bowed to what they perceive as bad-faith pressure.

I thought the point of having 2 people on each train was to prevent stuff like this from happening regardless of how "unsteady" someone is?

Being a Giants fan is like being an old roach in the dining room. As soon as you think it's safe to crawl out of your hiding place so you can feast, the shoe drops on you.

Just to clarify, I understand the article is about bus stop placement-- but I'm saying that the greater point is to speed up the bus not to favor bikes.

I used to take the B65 to school... going from Albany Ave to 5th Ave. It was so slow that eventually I opted to walk a half-mile to the A train instead of the bus that stopped a block away from me. ...and I grew up next to the projects. Crazy stuff here.

Shabazz Stuart @shabazzstuart.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
...I should say that the bus re-design is not about favoring bikes, its about speeding up bus travel times. The B65 is one of the worst busses in Brooklyn. It does not need to stop on literally every single block.

Shabazz Stuart @shabazzstuart.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
The B65 bus is legendarily slow. It makes a stop on literally every block. Speeding that bus up is *helping* senior citizens and elderly people. It's making the bus more reliable for poor people. Crazy work from the New York Post.

You’re not actually working to improve the lives of poor people if you’re not paying your invoices on time.

Shabazz Stuart @shabazzstuart.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
City busses are far more likely to serve poor people and senior citizens than any other form of public transit (excluding access-a-ride). Pretty wild to play the gentrification angle here w/the "busses killing granny" on the side.

Shabazz Stuart @shabazzstuart.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
As usual, Doug gets most of the good points in first. But also, since when was the city bus "gentrified transit?" and since when did senior citizens and elderly people not take NYC busses? Bus routes in NYC serve disproportionately poorer people and senior citizens.

"As an elder, this feels like Nazi Germany in 1933. What are you gonna do next? Kill me because I’m elderly?” This is a real thing a person said about a plan to reroute a bus and make it safer for people to bike. People are not okay.

For full context, NYC relies on a network of community contractors to provide services like Pre-K and other services, but getting a basic invoice paid for by the city is a legendary nightmare often taking 6-12 months. For a small business, especially an MWBE, this doesn't work.

Shabazz Stuart @shabazzstuart.bsky.social · 22/09/2026
For many years, and many administrations, NYC has lectured us all on "supporting local biz" and "investing in communities" while screwing both by not paying its bills on time. Community-based city contractors literally out here struggling to make payroll bc of this. Unacceptable.

These annual numbers aren’t huge yet but the trend is real, especially as Philly becomes more of a destination for artist and entrepreneurs. New York’s inability to solve affordability is a generational misstep. Literally.

The truth is plain to see for anyone who cares to look. One group gets their status revoked, and then deported to a dangerous country like criminals. The other gets welcome-bags and books on "reverse racism."

….and yes, revoking TPS for political reasons but encouraging immigration from white South Africans because of “genocide” is blatantly racist. Haiti is far more dangerous than SA for those with TPS.
