Place of Worship
On Sunday mornings
While other families are at church or sleeping in
We go to Malibu Jack’s.
I like the ritual of it.
We go through the motions
And eat the prescribed food.
We raise our hands to heaven
As the rollercoaster drops.
On high holy days
We ride the Go Karts.
It costs money to come here, you know.
Just like a church.
You are wrapped up in the wonder of this place.
I make small talk with the other parents
Or sit in peace for a few minutes.
Can I get a Hallelujah?
Our time here is short.
We have to go in five minutes.
Soon, you will outgrow this place.
