I-638 could force girls to undergo invasive, medically unnecessary genital exams just to play school sports. @sgn.org writes, "Instead of encouraging girls to take part in a cornerstone of growing up, schools could be asked to police children’s bodies." Vote NO on I-638 in November. #NoHateWAState
A screenshot of an article from Seattle Gay News is on a pale orange background. The headline of the article says: A horrifying anti-Trans ballot initiative is coming to Washington. The excerpt of the article shown in the screenshot reads: “Because of this blanket mandate, the initiative would be the nation’s most draconian ban of its kind. Parents may think twice before signing their daughters up for sports. Young athletes could worry that one accusation from a classmate, parent, or opposing team might force them into a deeply humiliating investigation.” Under the screenshot, a white annotation on a dark orange background says “I-638 will discourage girls from playing sports. We must take a stand against hate and discrimination.”

NEW: Seattle Police had "increased staffing assigned to the Seattle Center and surrounding neighborhoods" on the July 26 Bite of Seattle shooting according to an SPD Incident Action Plan I obtained:
staffing showing 5 foot squads and 1 bike squad deployedThe Bite of Seattle is a Northwest summer tradition featuring 50 plus restaurants and vendors, 100 craft vendors, Washington wines, craft beer
and cider tasting, 5 entertainment stages, beer gardens, a family fun zone and more. The Bite of Seattle will draw several thousand people to
the Seattle Center over the 3 day event, July 24-26, 2026. The Festival hours are 1100-2000 hours Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In years past,
there have been large scale disturbances associated with the Bite. These disturbances usually originate on the Seattle Center grounds during the
late afternoon and early evening hours. Large fights, multiple assaults, and property crimes are often associated with the many young people
who come to the Bite. These disturbances can spill out onto Broad Street and the surrounding neighborhoods, eventually ending up in the
downtown core. We have seen a reduction in these types of incidents the past few years. In an effort to mitigate some of these problems, the
West Precinct will increase staffing assigned to the Seattle Center and surrounding neighborhoods.

let women be losers!!! I talked to @sgn.org about how important it is to me that dudes aren't the only characters who get to suck. harper, the protag in TWO THOUSAND AND LATE, is a total girlfailure. and havoc, the demon inside her, is a total demonfailure. I love them both very much
“What I wanted to explore was the idea of a woman getting to be messy and violent and kind of a loser in the way that Eddie and Venom are losers,” she said. “They’re just total failures. Oftentimes, on screen, we have a strong female lead. We increasingly have wonderfully complex women, but we don’t get to see women on TV and in films or in books who suck. Like, they’re just losers. Harper, the lead character in this, is very much a loser, and that was important to me.”
