Found this on reddit 'r/Dogfree' and I agree. #dogs #doglovers #dogfree #dogculture #publicsafety #publicspace #socialcontract #dogowners
Screenshot of a Reddit post in the r/Dogfree subreddit, under the "Dog Culture" flair. The title reads: "It's a crime when I do it but not when Fido does?" The post text reads:

"If I'm passing you on the sidewalk and I lunge toward you from striking distance with a raised fist, that's assault, even if I don't touch you. If a dog lunges toward me barking and snarling, it's somehow totally fine as long as it doesn't bite.

If you're walking in the park and I run up to you and deliberately put my hands or face against your body without your consent, that's battery. If a dog does it, he's just a curious good boy.

If you're out for a jog or a bike ride and I charge directly after you screaming, that's assault even if I never catch you. If a dog charges after you barking and snarling, he's just being playful.

If I deliberately shove my face into your crotch without your consent, that's battery at the least (sexual assault depends on intent). If a dog does it, no big deal, that's just what they do.

My aunt, who was actually a professional hunting dog trainer, had a great line for me: A dog has to be a citizen.

What she meant was that it was unreasonable for an owner to let their dog impose on anyone else in a way that we would not allow a human to. Obviously a dog isn't legally or morally responsible for its behavior in the way a human is. That's the owner's responsibility. But I shouldn't have to be threatened, chased, touched, jumped on, sniffed, or otherwise forced to interact with somebody else's animal because the owner has decided that behavior that would be completely unacceptable from another person is harmless when their dog does it.

I usually find human-dog comparisons gross ("fur baby" - fucking disgusting), but I appreciated the analogy."

Combining tar, compression, and age creates a secure, compressed backup using Unix pipes. tar -c /dir/to/archive/compress/encrypt | zstd | age -r "age1..." -o backup.tar.zst.age tar streams the archive, zstd compresses, age encrypts. No intermediate files. Simple, auditable, efficient. #linux […]

`age` is a modern, simple file encryption tool. It replaces gpg for most everyday tasks. It uses small, explicit keys and secure defaults. It supports passphrase-based encryption or public-key encryption. Its simplicity makes it easy to audit and use. Ex: age -r <public-key> -o file.age file […]

You can integrate compression directly into tar. Instead of creating an uncompressed .tar and then compressing it, use flags: - -z: gzip -> .tar.gz - -j: bzip2 -> .tar.bz2 - -J: xz -> .tar.xz - --zstd: zstd -> .tar.zst It creates a pipeline: tar streams data, the compressor compresses it […]

Before compressing a tarball, you choose a compressor. The main options are: - gzip: Fast, universal, moderate compression. - bzip2: Slower, better compression. - xz: Very slow, best compression ratio, high memory use. - zstd: Modern, extremely fast, good ratio. Replacing gzip in many distros […]

Tired of your archiving process running without visual feedback while you wait for it to complete? Yesterday, I watched a video about `pv` on the YouTube channel 'You Suck at Programming', and my tar commands now display a clear progress bar.
A command line interface showing two executed commands. The first command calculates the byte size of a directory using du and awk, assigning the value to a variable named SIZE. The second command pipes a tar archive stream through pv, displaying a progress bar at 1 percent completion, a transfer rate of 16.2 MiB/s, and an estimated time of arrival of 20 minutes.A command line interface showing the ongoing execution of the previously initiated tar and pv pipeline. The progress bar has advanced to 9 percent completion, indicating 3.63 GiB of data processed at a speed of 15.5 MiB/s, with an updated estimated time of arrival of 40 minutes and 52 seconds.

Yes, you may syndicate my work
This is to mainly answer the questions, how to syndicate my work and to answer some questions surrounding the respectability of syndication. Let’s first answer the question, may you syndicate my work. Yes. You may syndicate my work. You may syndicate my work because that's combatting censorship, and I'm one hundred percent behind you in combatting censorship. I can't stand censorship of any kind, no matter who is doing the censorship. Trying to erase racism from history is just as problematic to me as trying to prevent marginalized people from publishing modern works. I fully believe one should have the liberty to read and interact with problematic art, even art that you consider harmful. I do not think problematic art should be willingly nor actively promoted beyond containment, but I strongly believe no one should dictate what kind of art one chooses to engage in. So, yes, you may syndicate my work far and wide. Fuck censorship to the highest order. ## May I pay you once I've decided to syndicate your work? You may pay me after you decide to syndicate my work. The original Creative Commons License forbids this kind of transaction but I'm poor. They don't know what it's like to live below the poverty line. You may work out a payment structure with me by contacting me, or you may financially contribute in one of these ways. ## How would you like to be credited? Ideally, with my full name but no middle initial. Robert Kingett. I’d also want to have my post URL fully cited in case someone wants to visit the URL for themselves. As a fallback, I’d like to have my full website printed so that way, people can visit my website to find the source of the reprint. ## How do you want your work to be syndicated. I especially want my writings syndicated in offline spaces, spaces I cannot access, so read about some syndication ideas here
