▪️ At least 16 Palestinians were killed during heavy rains and freezing weather as Storm Byron flooded displacement sites and collapsed waterlogged buildings sheltering families, including at least three children.

▪️ Israeli airstrikes, shelling, and gunfire persisted across Gaza, particularly near the Yellow Line. Since the ceasefire, 379 Palestinians have been killed, nearly 1,000 injured, and hundreds of bodies recovered from rubble, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry via OCHA.

▪️ Multiple UNRWA shelters and schools were struck or damaged by Israeli military operations, including a school shelter where one person was killed and five injured. Nearly all UNRWA installations have now been impacted since the war began.

▪️ More than 79,000 displaced people are sheltering in overcrowded UNRWA schools as winter conditions worsen, while Israel continues blocking UNRWA from bringing food, shelter, and humanitarian staff into Gaza, despite enough pre-positioned aid to support millions.

▪️ Escalation in East Jerusalem and West Bank: Israeli forces raided the UNRWA compound in Sheikh Jarrah, seized equipment, and replaced the UN flag with an Israeli flag. Israel also formalized 19 settlements amid rising settler violence.

Eight Palestine Action activists held on remand in UK prisons are now in the seventh week of a mass hunger strike, with lawyers warning some could die in custody if the government does not intervene.

None have been convicted, yet all have been denied bail and held for up to 18 months awaiting trial. Half are accused of actions against Elbit Systems’ Bristol R&D site, Israel’s largest arms firm, while others face charges over spraying RAF planes at Brize Norton, a base linked to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, a hub for Western military support to Israel.

At least five strikers have been hospitalized after 30–40 days without food. They are demanding release on bail, fair trials, an end to prison surveillance and censorship, the unbanning of Palestine Action, and the closure of Elbit’s UK operations. 🇩🇪 Germany’s Federal Security Council approved a $3.1 billion weapons deal with Israel on Thursday, clearing the way for Berlin to purchase Israel’s Arrow 3 missile defense system despite mounting international legal scrutiny over Israel’s genocide in Gaza, Middle East Eye reports.

Beginning with the genocide of the Herero and Nama in Namibia from 1904 to 1908 and continuing through the Holocaust against Europe’s Jews from 1941 to 1945, Germany has been responsible for two of the most devastating episodes of racialized genocidal violence of the past century. Over the past two years, it has extended that legacy by providing sustained military, political, and legal support to Israel as it carries out the destruction and erasure of Palestinians.

The deal follows a $3.5 billion arms agreement signed two years ago, making the two contracts Israel’s largest arms sales ever, worth more than $6.6 billion combined. It moves forward even as Israel faces an ongoing genocide case at the International Court of Justice and arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Germany, which supplies roughly 30% of Israel’s imported weapons, announced a “partial arms embargo” last summer but reversed it in November and has not said whether a single shipment to Israel was ever delayed or halted.
