Admittedly unhelpful drive-by: is ‘hate’ the right antonym? ‘Murderous solipsism’ has a sort of ring to it.

Foxes liked stealing my dog’s toys as well as my shoes. Baffled me for months until I found them strewn about the communal garden next door (I’m in S. London).

Was a class in North London. Afraid I didn’t realise who he was until he passed, and didn’t get to know him, so I’d be lying if I tried to say I remembered much.

CueCats are here to stay. We need to stop fearmongering about CueCats and start finding the ways that CueCats can be used ethically and to support our causes. Naysayers need to realize that this technology is inevitable.
A photo of a CueCat, a vaguely cat shaped white device with a cord and a little scanner at the front of it.

Very good list. I expect that’s The Who with Keith Moon & Pink Floyd with Roger Waters? I only ever saw them without. And I never saw Gang of Four, but did train Tai Chi with Andy Gill for a time.

Quote with a fictional band that is not Spinal Tap
A mock poster for cartoonist Berk Breathed’s satirical ‘Billy and the Boingers’. Bill the Cat stands stage left holding a mic stand and his tongue, he’s wearing a huge teased wig and spandex trousers. Opus is caught mid-dance, tongue out and eyes closed, stage right. He is also wearing a teased wig and holding a ukulele slung low, Kirk Hammett-style, and is wearing a purple tiger-striped jumpsuit. Footnotes run along the stage behind them.

My approach is to pick one brand which is most common and ditch the others. Where I’m at, that’s Satco, and I’ve got a fridge & freezer full of the things. The others get used for e.g. the dog’s meals when she goes to the sitter.

Well, that and Rousey is 5 years younger and the (arguably*) the most dominant of her generation. She did pretty much that to almost everybody. * Cris Cyborg would probably like a word.

Give me your favorite Non-Trek performance from a Star Trek actor. Avery Brooks as Hawk in Spencer for Hire.
A DVD or VHS cover for the complete first season of the TV series ‘Spenser for Hire’. Avery Brooks, facing forward in sunglasses and a grey 3-piece suit, standing centred in the middle distance with Robert Wagner in the right foreground, body facing left head turned toward camera, wearing a beige 2-piced suit. There is green foliage in the background.

Way I read it, OP is quoting overall number of votes across the UK. Reform picked up lots of seats, but they tended to be in places with lower populations so it took fewer votes to win them than would’ve done in the more populous areas where Reform didn’t do as well.

I think that dichotomy may be a hazard of working in accessibility/inclusion: you figure folks just don’t realise, and don’t want to be preach-y and then one will just make clear they just DGAF and…. Anyway, I get that too sometimes.

The ones selling U.S. brands are. Been a long time since I followed the industry at all (grandpa + uncle were dealers; uncle died ≈ 10 years ago) but used to be there were far more U.S.-marque dealerships — like > 5× as many as EU (depending how you count Chrysler, but for tariffs they’re U.S.).

TBH, ‘what problem does this solve?’ is often hard to pin down. There are usually a bunch of reasons people want *thing* to exist, and not everyone agrees on what they are or which are priorities. To say nothing of esoteric niceties like who has the problem or how we’ll know it is solved.

Google leads me to believe that’s a thing for the 3.2% limit for beer sold in grocery stores in e.g. Colorado, but not a general thing, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I was quoting ABV (Alcohol By Volume) from Wikipedia and other sources. Won’t swear they’re all accurate, but they’re allegedly all ‘by volume’.

There’s not that much in it, but lagers in the UK/EU do tend to be > 5%, big brand/cheap American beers tended to be ≤ 5% in US. Light beers tended to be closer to 4%. Bitters in the UK are usually roughly similar to American beers in America. Apparently, Bud is 5% in US but 4.5% in the UK.

draft bitter (ale) typically 3.5–4.5%, lager 5%.

Back in the day (before 2001), the big brands (Bud, Miller, etc.) were more like 4%, light beers less (in fact, in Canada, ‘light’ meant ‘less alcohol’). Early ’90s ice beer had a day and 5.5% was a Big Deal.
