I saw someone offer $20 for this bag at the AEAs to someone who just got one, the person rejected this offer

I have multiple students on the market this year who are absolutely excellent. So excellent that they will be bonafide candidates at many, many schools. Some of which refuse to use recruitment websites and instead require bespoke interactions and submissions. I have...feelings about this.

I'm a Grinnell grad and read the obit. It's great to hear he had such an impact and I admire the teaching track faculty and tell people in places it can be a good job. I'm also impressed he donated 2million +

For those hiring at non-PhD schools, I'll be curious if the market is changing. Having been on many hiring committees I wondered what the market was like for non-PhD schools, so I wrote a paper journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1...

EconTwitter was talking about this in 2018. I think the AEA has gotten better, but there is room to grow for sure www.insidehighered.com/news/2019/01...

I know the AEA is trying to create diversity on a number of lines (gender, race), but I think everyone nominated this year works at University with a PhD granting department. I don't feel like there is diversity of institutions @aeainformation.bsky.social www.aeaweb.org/about-aea/le...

Fed an abstract into regular Chat GPT and some reviews from a rejection and it came up with the same two journals to submit to next. It suggested some non-econ journals but I think I agree with Chat's conclusion that probably best I stick with econ journals

AI seems mostly trained on reddit, so perhaps a good reddit post would sound like AI. It seems like reddit accounts with engagement have value (you can sell or promote things) www.mediafa.st/reddit-accou... In better reddit news I think I found an RA from Towson on reddit

sometimes I also think about creating a research course for highschoolers and charging some students and giving it free to disadvantaged students, but probably better uses of my time

Got 2 requests from highschoolers looking for opportunities to do research with me. I have a tough enough time doing research with undergrad so I always say no. That said I also wish I could help my highschool aged daughter find a different econ mentor to work on her cool project idea

I'm going to have to build new course materials from scratch for some new courses I'm teaching next year, and I might as well put in the time to make them fully ADA-compliant; anyone have suggested resources? (I'm thinking about how I prepare stuff posted to our CMS, which is Moodle, in particular)
