The southwestern US has some great flying weather so a training squadron in NM doesn't surprise me, but I guess the markings do. I wonder why they did it that way? Maybe the politics of that time.

Yeah, Lajes was kind of a crossroads in the Atlantic then, you'd see all kinds of stuff passing through. I can't remember where they were taking them, just back for heavy maintenance. 1/2
