i think about form size a lot, bouncing between epic fantasy series and standalones, short stories, and novellas. generally, i’m pretty disinterested in the categories themselves, but i’m interested in using the space well, to best effect. so how do you write a good story at any length?

Read a lot. Read widely. Read challenging books and fluffy books and nonfiction books and literary theory. As an author, your books are you craft, and constantly training those skills is the best think you can do for your art.
