I finished my collar. Set the corners, closed the neck, set attachments for secure fixture to leotard. Lastly… all of the costume has been moved to the hangar so that my pets can’t get to it and cause further damage. There is one more thing to finish… but it should be quick. #cosplay #sailormoon

The next step - new collar. Because I couldn’t find an exact match on the fabric from the old skirt, I need a new collar. It’ll be smaller because I realized that the other collar was too big. This is one night’s worth process from bonding interface, cutting two halves, and sewing stripe #1.

The first stripe has been measured and attached via sewing machine. Careful measurements around all sides to try to put it on.

As it's nearing the end of summer, I have to at least wear some of my cooler summer fits before I can't do it much anymore up here in the North!

I'm getting really close on finishing up this second version of my Sailor Moon skirt. I've done the cutting, pleated it, crafted the waistband, done the white hip roll, sewn it to the waistband, and stitched all of the button attachment points. I just have to finish the hemming!

I love my little house out in the boonies. I woke up to find a spider friend who built a massive web, including this colored leaf (what a sense of decoration!) Considering all of the Spiderwoman content lately, this felt pretty cool in that context too.

So… I took a couple different runs at pleating my skirt today. They might not look different… but the problem with the first pleating was that the middle pleat didn’t line up front-to-back. I’m now more comfortable doing pleating and I don’t feel it’s quite as challenging as it used to be.

Well, it's time to get back to stitching! I finally have the fabric and I've been getting busy because there's only a limited time until Halloween. Here's the third run at my Sailor Moon skirt. I'm a bigger girl so in order to get the pleats, I need a bigger ring. Next step is the pleating though!

Here we have a skirt whose ends are joined up. The entire skirt is on the floor because, well, it wouldn't fit on the desktop. It's made of blue fabric. Underneath is cream-colored carpet along with the corner of a treadmill at the upper left.

Serena is taking a selfie in the middle of the blue fabric ring. It is very clear that this fabric ring is incredibly large. The point here is that when Serena does the pleats on the fabric ring, that fabric ring will shrink by at least half if not more... depending on how well Serena pleats the blue fabric ring to make it into a skirt.

Working on hand-sewing the Halloween costume, part the umpteenth: I have to redo parts of my Sailor Moon costume including the back bow and skirt. I finished the “easy” part, the new improved larger bow. It has more natural tails that move as well. Still to do: get material for new pleated skirt.

Here’s a good four to six hours on my Sailor Moon skirt- Step 1 the cut, of four pieces. Step 2 the stitching together into a circle. Step 3 was folding and pinning the pleats… And step 4 was to put a _ton_ more pins in to move the skirt and hold it together for a baste stitch on the machine.

A round piece of fabric that has been stitched together and preliminarily pinned with pleats.

Repinning the pleats to make sure they flow nicely and to try to keep a round waistband.

A _ton_ more pins so that this behemoth skirt can be moved to the sewing machine.
