hmm i think I am misunderstanding something here. I’m helping my sister publish a book. the printer quotes a price + GST, we pay that. then selling to a store we quote a wholesale price + GST. Then the store must sell to the customer with GST included. So to find RRP I need to factor in GST twice?

i've always wondered why we export so much good stuff in nz and it costs so much to buy things grown and produced here... today i learned that GST applies at every point in the supply chain from producer to retailer, but if you export goods you don't pay any GST??

How do we purposefully group a submission with others? I’ve often es wanted to voice support/opposition on bills but it’s not clear which group I can +1 onto, so I end up making individual submissions.

If the internetnz agm has taught me anything it is that the NZ far right is just way more organised. And every progressive I know has busy lives and not enough time and mental energy to enrol and research and decide and vote at every thing that they might care about

ok nz friends hear me out: a progressive platform where you can get notified if there’s an AGM vote / bill submission / local council vote coming up that is relevant to your interests, along with quick explainers + time needed + voting guides from ppl you know. Call it voting for people with lives

i need a party to run on lowering GST and making up for it by introducing taxes on excess corp profits (i.e. progressive tax on business profits) + corp profits going overseas we gotta tilt the scales in favour of the local little guys
