This plan actually makes perfect sense when you remember that they're accutely aware of how much everyone hates AI, and that one perfect way to protect their (imagined) god machine from a decentralised movement taking out fragile datacentre infrastructure, is to literally put it out of reach.

Most stuff being sold new today is bluetooth bookshelf speakers, and those are fine and then you just need a cd player, but Id recommend getting a second hand audio receiver and some passive speakers, should be very cheap. Will serve you well and then can set it up with tv/record player/digital.

Thought I would add, general tip for plasticity that wasnt intuitive, using the freeform move face is the tool that enables snapping to other pieces of geometry, its what you need to get rid of two corners that are very close to combining but not quite. Also match face.

Only thing missing is some kind of assembly workbench/motion simulation, but thays firmly in the "nice to have but not necessary" category and can always import into blender for posing and stuff. Also on linux which fusion doesnt support but wouldnt change even if they did start supporting it (2/2)

Bit late but I would second this. I tried doing this kind of modelling in blender, and while its good for a lot of people, it never clicked for me. Plasticity still has a bit of growing to do, but its really good already and Ive loved using it. (1/2)

In some ways their self description as rationalists is apt, everything they say and do is in service of rationalising their desire for a level of power that can only be understood in mythic terms. (7/n)

The idea of "future lives being as important as current lives" is only useful in that it allows them to regard the suffering and pain they cause in the present to be morally correct, because it would be more sinful to harm "future lives". (6/n)

These commandments being driven, essentially, by their libidinal urge to seek power. Rokos Bassilisk is only an important framework in as much as it provides a justification for why it's sinful to not build the thing that they think will make them powerful. (5/n)

The aethism of the 2000s/2010s made distance from that attractive, but having never had lives difficult enough to force the work of unbelief on a deep level, they ended up recreating the concepts of damnation and salvation and sin, with a thin veil of bad sci-fi and a new set of commandments. (4/n)

Lyra @seren.monster · 10/09/2026
The other aspect, to me, which is what ties in with rokos basilisk, is that they all grew up in the american stew of christianity where heaven and hell and demons are a bedrock understanding of the worlds functioning. (3/n)

I think theres a couple of different parts to it. I think the key aspect is that there's an enormous libidinal investment in power, and what could be more powerful than "fathering" the god/ai they fantasize about. (1/n)

Common themes when I think about it are: how it accelerates and entrenches a disconnection from the present, a retreat from the effortful fulfilment of seeking originality its almost always leaning on a construction of a nonexistent prelapsarian past (1/2)

For science specifically, if you have institutional access there's also things like Web Of Science, I'm sure there are humanities equivalents but aren't sure on the names. I think the open source ones facilitate people using AI but don't have it as a "feature" WoS I think does push it more heavily 🙃

Kaweco pens are really great quality and built to last and feel very nice. I have the kaweco special brass fountain pen and I've had it years and years and never failed me. Pretty sure they do a rollerball version of it as well. AU so no idea where to get them in UK but the brand is everywhere.

The citation crisis ("you mean you guys read the sources you cite?"), like the replication crisis, exists because academia has been neoliberalised to death. The pressure to publish to keep an academic job is absurd and the metrics are unbelievably crude — that's why we're here.

Media Release
Loud Jew Collective condemns the anti-Palestinian racism on show at the Royal CommissionOn 1st May Loud Jew Collective (LJC) was told by the Royal Commission that "the Commissioner is not satisfied that LJC has a direct and substantial interest in the scope of the hearing and has refused LJC leave to appear at Hearing Block 1."
This rejection is evidence of the irredeemably flawed state of the Royal Commission. A flaw confirmed by the relentless anti-Palestinian racism and Islamophobia that we have heard since the Royal Commission commenced this Hearing Block.
Hearing Block 1 has been purportedly examining "the nature and prevalence of antisemitism in Australia" and hearing from "witnesses about their lived experience of antisemitism."LJC's submission focuses on the most prevalent forms of antisemitism that Collective members have experienced - that perpetrated by the far-right and by zionist Jews.
It incorporates a witness statement by Collective member Anny Mokotow and attached expert evidence by historian
Dr Jordana Silverstein.
Anny Mokotow's statement explained that "As LJC, we have always resisted our identity being subsumed by the idolatry of Israel. The myth of the 'Jew' as 'special' has become a political reality even if it is based on the notion of victimhood. We, as anti-Zionists, who refuse to use victimhood as a right to superiority are now othered by our own 'people'."LJC's submission outlines many Collective members' lived experiences of antisemitism and situates this antisemitism within its appropriate contexts, demonstrating that in Australia it must be seen as a marginal form of racism.
Proper focus must instead be placed on the founding racism - that faced by First Nations people - as well as on the racism faced by Palestinians, Muslims, Arabs, and other significantly marginalised groups.
The Royal Commission's assertion that LJC's testimony is not relevant to their work in this Hearing Block is thus evidence of the anti-Palestinian racism at the core of both the Commission and Australian politics and media more generally.

It is clear that the Royal Commission is looking to further the narrative that is proliferating currently: that it is Palestinians and those who stand in solidarity with them who are the causes of antisemitism. Such racism would be laughable if it wasn't so violent.
Because while this Royal Commission proceeds this year, continuing to centre narratives of Jewish victimhood and providing media fodder for permanent discussions of antisemitism, the genocide in Palestine continues and Israel's genocidal violence spreads across the region.Quote attributable to Gem Walsh, member of LJC:
"LJC's rejection from the Royal Commission confirms that anti-Palestinian racism is embedded in the Commission's work. It confirms that anti-zionist and anti-colonial knowledge and truth-telling will be deliberately excluded".
Quote attributable to Betty Buckrich, member of LJC:
"We are very angry that the Royal Commission has decided to exclude those who refuse the primacy of narratives of Jewish victimhood and that they deem this perspective to be outside their "direct and substantial interest. The Royal Commission is demonstrating that it will be nothing more than a place for the airing of perspectives deemed acceptable to zionism".It is evident that the best we can hope for from this Royal Commission is that it goes the way of every other one and that its recommendations are ignored.
And so this is an important reminder of the ways that significant Royal Commissions - most particularly the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody - are routinely not implemented.
This is the racism at the heart of Australian life and it is this which must be addressed.
Not overblown and inaccurate ideas of a proliferation of antisemitism.
