I have been sitting on this character artwork by @selinafenech.bsky.social for so long!! The Royal Dragons of Alaska was my first series as Elva Birch and I love this alternate Alaska so much. Cool fact: I came up with the book covers before I had even a whiff of a plot.

I feel bad expressing this sentiment because I'm lucky enough to have supportive parents. But I consider them as a safety net for bigger issues. On a day to day basis, I have nobody but myself to get work done, to rely on, to show myself any care. I'm sure a lot of single working mums can relate.

A local woman started a women's only strength gym in her garage and me, having never done "gym" before, figured it would be my best chance to start. And not just me Lotsa newbies working hard. I'm loving the vision of all the mums in our town becoming strong badasses together.

I struggled to solve the end of the Shadow Dragon Saga because of this. The evil in that world was caused by greed/inaction of MANY. (Being vague to avoid spoilers) The answer ended up being a community's work helping the oppressed resulted in the numbers/situation needed to make large scale change.

I was looking at my back catalog just recently thinking "Wow, my early books are really shit" 😅😭 but then a review like this comes along and I wonder if maybe I'm being too hard on myself.

A screenshot of a book review for Unlife by Lena Fox stating "After seeing so many great reviews on this book I had to find out for myself. I can say with certainty that these are no exaggerations. There wasn’t a single moment in the story I did not love. Humor, romance, curiosity, sorrow. You truly get invested in both main characters. I only stopped reading after Kitty mentioned ice cream to grab some of my own and then devoured the rest of the book. The only way this story could be improved is with a dual POV, but the author does a great job portraying the thoughts and feelings of Owen without it. The second book in the series is not something I am going to miss out on!"
