Given it seems magical girl retro titles that aren't Sailor Moon, CCS, or MKR have trouble selling even for Discotek & Animeigo, I would say Sally the Witch. It's historically important as the foundation of the genre but only hardcore magical fans in the US know it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7V0...

Draw This, Then Die is hitting me a lot harder than I expected it to. Pure enjoyment in creativity and escapism, and a respect for the rigors of the craft. Will be buying the manga the next chance I get.

Keep forgetting to mention this, but animation & Widow’s Bay fans should watch The Doomies, which is funny, spooky, well written, has a banger visual style AND a tough as nails Chosen One who just wants to punch monsters (she’s probably gay). Available on Disney+! m.youtube.com/watch?v=bjxJ...

Somebody, anybody recommend me a game to beat. Doesn’t matter the type of game, as long as it doesn’t take 65+hours to beat. The first game you think about that you want to rave to your friends about, but they just don’t commit to it like you do. Been in a gaming slump.

Been weeks of working at 2am, so haven’t seen very much, but these have been fun. Delinquent, discontented youth love story. Childish adults, and children just wanting fun despite the silliness. Underworld 🔫🧛‍♀️🔫. And finally, a jumbled messy fun plate of he-man. #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched

It’s okay to feel nostalgic and bask in the before times, when the day was brighter, and the nights were magical. But remember, it was a moment of time, and it’s okay to be aware of the intervening years and how you’ve grown. You can still love it. But acknowledge you, it, and the now are different.

Been awhile #LetterboxdFriday. Was in a ufology mood at first, and then dipped into a late night contemplative mood. Then I rode the coaster of FoD and had a blast facing our content obsessed culture. And finally went back into a somber moonlit wandering in Taiwan. An interesting #LastFourWatched

Where is the fired on mars team, and why isn’t there more? Or why haven’t I seen more from them? I think about this show a lot, and it’s deeply funny, mature, and interesting in exploring that transitionary period so many of us face in adulthood.

Late night viewing. A 2002 French corporate thriller fueled by sex, violence, and our constant exposure and insatiable hunger for both. Subjected to and desensitized to the corporate emotional void, background newsfeeds and violent films, this film progressively escalates in intensity and violence.

It’s already #LetterboxdFriday again. #LastFourWatched Sleazy fun with Fincher. A nailbiting Detour into bad decisions and life’s cruelty. A great, zany horror rom-com. And finally Ming-liang’s debut film has a strong identity that strengthens with subsequent films and continues to deeply resonate.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched A film education in 3 parts. A new to me Halloween movie party fave. An interesting change up in the bone temple. And had to watch twice back-to-back, and might have kept rewatching; The bizarre, sad, funny, disturbing and entirely still relevant The Hole.

Stuff is packed away but my pick for #RandomGameSaturday. Although I’ve only played the first one, I went hard in collecting as much of the series as I could. Still have a few to go, but just grabbing what I can find. Silly and fun, without crazy high stakes, but still a warmly endearing series.

When I’m stalling on games, I wish I had a feed of what people are actively playing. Paying attention on here is nice but I never know if the posted games are being played through or just cool to see. Just would be nice. My friends all play gachas or the same 2-3 games I have little interest in. 😔

The minnmax podcast briefly mentioned characters that they thought were bigger than they actually were due to their younger selves limited exposure to the gaming landscape, and for me that was Sir Daniel Fortesque. I played the heck out of ps1 demo disks and thought he was a huge PlayStation mascot.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Didn’t watch a lot of Christmas stuff, but these 2 are always fun with family. Killer Of Sheep haunted me and left my heart aching for my parents and some struggles I still have today. The Caller, simply put, is a banger. The less you know beforehand the better.

Zootopia 2 is the highest grossing Hollywood movie of the year & Kpop Demon Hunters was Netflix's most popular movie of all time, but fuck animators, am I right? I hate reading about how huge & beloved this stuff is while knowing how hard creators have it & how it still isn't broadly taken seriously

This is a decision that can only happen when the people who founded the company lost sight of the reason they established this tier / how they themselves started. The whole reason that simulcasting+free ad-supported tiers were innovated in the first place was to deter people from pirating the shows!

Oh my god, The Mercenary - bellissimo. Finally, a hyper impactful Bogdanovich flick. Very nearly my favorite of his.

There are so many classic films that I continue to put off just because I’m dying to see them for the first time in a theatre. I need to accept that it’ll most likely not happen, especially in my town, so I just gotta go for it.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Two absolute banger films and a fun few others. Night of the Hunter is burned into my mind as a new favorite. La Bamba is heart wrenching and almost too relatable. Weapons I enjoyed, a bit luke warm towards, but I find myself thinking about it a lot. FF was cool.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Been an emotionally complicated week, and I think these films reflect that. A strangely prescient anime charged with the current state of the world, a surreal purgatory-esque depiction of cinema and life, a ruthless fun western classic, and a somber American dream.

Goodbye, Dragon Inn
Venus Wars
