At least I learned how to use the bike rack on a public bus, something I have never had to do ever before in my life if you can believe that.

I was fortunate in that the place I stopped at to work on my bike was right next to a bus stop and by the time I decided I wasn't able to do the repair by myself there was a bus coming by in a couple minutes.
I struggled to get my bike stowed for a minute before I figured it out just as the driver was coming out to assist me.
By taking public transit I only had to walk my bike one mile to the bike shop.

This motherfuck just cost me $100.

Photo of me holding up the fishhook that popped my rear ebike tire alongside the now repaired tire. I have a patch kit so I tried to repair it myself as I knew exactly where the hole was but once I pulled the tire off far enough to expose the inner tube I could not locate the leak. So I took my bike to the shop I bought it from and asked them to fix it.
I wasn't aware that bike shops don't patch tires but instead they replace the inner tube and on my bike dismounting the rear wheel involves a lot more labor than a traditional bike.
If I had known that beforehand I would have just taken the bike to a tire shop or service station.

Desktop or mobile? I remember what the web was like 20 years ago and there were a substantial amount of websites that wouldn't work with anything but Chrome. Thus I'm reluctant to try anything that's not in the top three. These charts show how popular different browsers are in America.

This is what I paid at Costco yesterday. This was also my first fill-up since New Year's Eve as I drive a plug-in hybrid and most of my driving is in EV mode.

My old lawnmower recently died abruptly and I suspect internal engine damage that wouldn't be worthy to repair. I wonder how much I can get for scrap.

My 35 year old craftsman lawnmower that has been a constant struggle to keep it running. It often stalls due to either too much fuel or not enough fuel. I've rebuilt the carburetor more times than I can count and replaced all the parts on the carb. I think I finally got it to stop leaking fuel in between uses. I tried an aftermarket carb but that was worse than the original.

Recently it stopped abruptly and wouldn't restart. I could hear metal clanging and it felt like no compression when I pulled the starting rope. My guess is the piston rings have failed. And while that is something I could repair myself I'm not even going to try. I'm done with this mower and I just want it gone

Conifur NW 2002 was held this weekend 23 years ago in Tacoma. I came across this art piece by Derrick Dasenbrock in the art show and felt so inspired that I had to buy it. Here is a short thread on why this piece means so much to me. #furryart

About twice a year I use an irrigator like this to flush out my ear wax. I've had the same one since I was a teenager. It came with a tiny bottle of mineral oil but I find blasting my ears with warm water alone usually does the trick.

I caught a glimpse of a black crow swooping past my bedroom window several times before I looked outside and discovered it was raiding a small birds nest in a nearby rose bush that I hadn't been aware of. A sparrow seemed agitated and kept dive bombing the crow after I chased it away.
