another thing that really stood out to me this rewatch is the video footage they watch of Windom ranting about the Lodge, in which Kenneth Welsh's performance is completely naturalistic. After all his theatrics, seeing him stripped bare and manic like that hits with a wallop.

Regarding Iñárritu, I love The Revenant, which I'd put right up alongside any similar Ordeal movie you'd care to name—Sorcerer, Deliverance, Ravenous, Aguirre, that Pluribus episode in the jungle etc. Haven't seen or heard a thing about any of his other movies that makes me want to see them at all!
