People act like "the party machine" is programmatically determined... Calling it a machine is a trap. "The establishment" does not exist. What exists is a network of relationships. People really need to stop being surprised when people they haven't built relationships with don't support them.

People who think in terms of Faith have been known to accuse scientists of having "faith" in science. I think there's some honesty in that idea. But people of Faith often mean that scientists have faith in answers. In reality, scientists just have faith in questions: that there's more to learn.

Crunchyroll with ads on is just unwatchable. 5+ ads 3 times, basically randomly... Or an ad blocker. I didn't WANT to go find a blocker but I spent more time watching ads than content... Seems like really poor design in crunchyroll's part when the alternative is so easy.

When I was ~11 or so my dad told me that HIS grandfather had been a grand wizard in the kkk. I know racists make a big deal out of the idea of "white guilt" but for me, as a young nerd, the real conflict was whether wizards were still cool... They are! Though Gandalf is a little sus tbh.

I might get some heat for this but I think there (will eventually be) a place for AI writing. AI is laying bare how we've been teaching writing: production over practice, purpose over Purpose. Teaching people the reasons to love art will transcend AI. The way the Beatles transcend elevator music.
