One of my favorite college football things is when everyone falls over themselves to tell you how they knew this team was gonna be great and now everyone's gonna see it because they're for real, and then they immediately lose by 28.

Say what you want about McAfee, and I know I have, but it’s a good example of how he has a kind of charisma that Portnoy cannot begin to match.

Romo is already checking all the right boxes on the redemption checklist, and it won't take too much time for him to find his way back, if he wants it.

Al Michaels, Kirk Herbstreit offer simplistic evaluation of Deshaun Watson’s comeback in Cleveland
Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns were back on Prime Video this week for Thursday Night Football, and the streamer’s broadcast team again offered a simplistic take on the beleaguered quarterback’s comeback. During the preseason, Prime’s Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit pressed for Watson’s “second chance.” The veteran Michaels described the nearly two dozen sexual misconduct…

The SEC’s TV ratings dominance is getting scary for the Big Ten
Despite winning three straight national championships, the Big Ten faces a problem that’s entering crisis territory: the TV ratings gap between the Big Ten and the SEC is widening. Some of this can be dismissed by pointing to the soft schedule the Big Ten has opened with, how early we are in the season, or…

Reporters caught on hot mic discussing Sacramento Kings’ attractiveness, personalities
It’s a new day for the Sacramento Kings, who are hoping the 2026-2027 NBA season can be about renewal and positive momentum. For some local media members, it’s also about how many of the players are “hella fine.” On Monday, the Kings held their annual media day, giving the local media up-close-and-personal access to returning…

On the 20th anniversary of the New Orleans Saints' return to the Superdome after Katrina, Mike Tirico, Suzy Kolber, Deuce McAllister, and others relive the magic of that game. awfulannouncing.com/nfl/oral-his...
Fletcher Mackel: I’ve told Steve this, if this were a Disney movie, you wouldn’t believe it.

Suzy Kolber: We became very connected with those folks. So not only was it always a joy to go back, but obviously you want good games, you want good teams. And the fact that they were so dominant then on Monday nights under the lights, in the spotlight, just made everything more meaningful and more fun.

Mike Tirico: I’m forever a fan of New Orleans, the city, just because seeing where it came back to. The connection with the Saints was real. And no doubt that night took it to a level that I don’t think other cities could ever match.

Deuce McAllister: I do understand how lucky I did get by being from Mississippi, playing at Ole Miss, two and a half hours north of where my mom lives, and now I had an opportunity to play two and a half hours south on a professional level. And just to be able to call it home, it is unique. It is special. The relationship that you have with the fans in the city aJeff Duncan: What happened in 2006 in the Domecoming game went beyond football. People wondered if the city was going to actually recover to be the city that they grew up and knew and loved and if it would ever be the same. There was uncertainty. And not that the football team playing one game cemented that, but it gave people hope.

The NFL felt strongly enough about bringing the Saints back and putting that game on a national, global platform, Monday Night Football. They were investing. If they were investing in the city, then it gave people reason to also invest. If the Saints are going to be back and the NFL is going to be a part of this, then I can come back and rebuild my home.

The oral history of the 2006 Saints-Falcons ‘Monday Night Football’ Domecoming game
September 25, 2026 represents the 20th anniversary of one of the most impactful sporting events of the 21st century. Twenty years ago, the New Orleans Saints reopened the Superdome on ESPN’s Monday Night Football against the arch-rival Atlanta Falcons. It was the first game the Saints played in New Orleans following the devastation of Hurricane…

"If you’re like me, reading that made you feel a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. Those millions of voices were America’s fathers, losing a part of their soul at the idea of this guy besmirching the untapped potential of what might just be the most anticipated dad movie of all time."
