The UK community energy movement is replete with some of the most tenacious and relentlessly upbeat people in the country. It is tremendously exciting to finally have a government that wants to help them to make things happen! “This is what good news looks like!” Joe Fortune, Cooperative Party 💫

We’re raising funds to deliver 10 community renewable energy projects across South East London. A community share offer launches first, followed by a bond offer. Early share investment enables fast LED upgrades, with solar projects following in 2026.

Will Labour's £1bn community energy gamble really pay off?

A new plan from Labour will see £1bn invested in community energy every year. Those working on the frontline say they still face barriers.

Since early 2024, community energy projects in England have benefited from a £10 million Government fund. But with the money set to run out in May, there is still no certainty over the fund’s future ...

In the last month our solar sites have produced 7,940.12 KWH of clean energy for schools and community buildings in South London. That’s the equivalent of taking a petrol car off the road for 9,000 miles, planting around 90 trees or more than 100,000 cups of tea brewed!

Community energy and low-income households

Community energy projects have existed for many years, but how do they fit in with the Government’s commitment to clean power by 2030 and can community energy really work for low-income households?

What is community energy? It’s local people owning and controlling renewable energy, lowering bills and tackling climate change. We're supporting the Local Power Plan to help put power back in the hands of communities.

Community energy means local people owning and controlling their own renewable energy projects.

It keeps profits in the community, lowers bills, and helps tackle climate change.

It's a fairer, greener way to power our future.

Have been asked I push community-owned energy so much. Not only is it popular and delivering immense value, but it helps build strong grassroots political networks. In a world of rapid change, economic extraction and political chaos, ownership and organising are two sides of an important coin
